Legitimately though, my brain has never unintentionally retconned a movie as hard as it has TROS

Did anyone watch Joe Dirt 2? I've never talked to anyone who has

I did! Don’t ask me to tell you a single thing that happens in it, but I did watch it when it came out.

I am always surprised how popular the original Joe Dirt still is.

Me too. It's not a good movie, but it's super enjoyable. Some bizarre stuff and great behind the scenes and such.

I saw it with my mom in theaters and during the cheerleader tryout scene when the popular girl does that Brittany Spears routine and David Spade coughs and says "Slut!" mom my audibly gasped and got flustered like "how dare you introduce such vile words to my child" and I was laughing hysterically.

Joe Dirt is better than a majority of Happy Madison movies, but it's still, like, a 4 or 5/10.

I have a soft spot for Joe Dirt, idk something about “redneck Forest Gump” works for me better than Forest Gump.

  15. Haven't watched it in years but the idea of him carrying around a meteorite that is actually a frozen hunk of shit is pretty funny. Lotta quotables from that movie that had an impression on our friend group in like junior high.

I remember I came home from a camping trip with my family in middle school and somehow my bedroom tv was on, along with the DVD player and Joe Dirt was in and playing. We had been gone for 5-6 days and all I can assume is that friends came over and out of everything that they could have done in my parents house, they decided to watch Joe Dirt lol

not sure if they jumped out the bedroom window in a panic when they heard us come home or if they had watched it days earlier and it somehow just stayed playing on repeat but I’ve always wondered about this and who it was that came over and watched it

The saddest thing is An American Carol was directed by an actual comedy legend, David Zucker. How you can make movies as funny and irreverent and taboo-shattering as Airplane!, Top Secret! and The Naked Gun and eventually become a shitty conservative is beyond me.

The funny thing about the far right's hatred of Michael Moore is that he has been a huge influence on their filming style. The O'Reilly Factor used to have a segment called Watters' World that would ambush people with rhetorical questions and then splice in clips from old movies and TV shows the same way Moore does.

The podcast Michael and Us touches on this a lot. Once they got through all of Moore's documentaries, they started watching a bunch of conservative responses to Moore and they were all clearly just shitty rip-offs of his own films

They definitely existed but considering there were multiple sequels in theaters I feel like the Maze Runner and Divergent franchises have been all but largely forgotten and are more just byproducts of the teen drama scifi fad
