I would love to hear Skiba live doing the yell at the last chorus "BARELY STANDING ON THE GROOUUND!"

If it was Tom it'd be "Ya'im Barwley Styanding On the Growaaaaaah"

I must like Teenage Satellites more than most people. Strong verses, great chorus. The bridge isn't the strongest, but I think it's a really awesome track overall. But I'm also not huge on Left Alone and most people seem to like that one a lot.

I like TS, but I will say it's my least to 2nd least liked song(I like them all) next to California. BUT, I will say Skibas vocals in both California and TS make those songs good in my book. His verse on TS is great and his backing vocals in the last chorus of California is great I sing it every time

Apparently Tom owns a Range Rover, because if you turn the picture around 180 degrees you see a Range Rover with a NASA sticker in the parking lot.

  6. As much as I dislike Kings and Teenage I still don't skip them. I don't like to ruin the sequence of the album when I listen to it.

Teenage Satellites is one of the few songs on the album that, to me, feels like an honest look at youth gone by. Kings of the Weekend is so bland because it feels empty lyrically, while Teenage Satellites feels more like a retrospective, longing song about a feeling or moment that's passed. Kings of the Weekend feels like an attempt at capturing that same energy, and it just doesn't work. And while I love Skiba on the whole album I find his "no control"s on that song really grating, like an abrupt, whiney taunt. It's not really a question of the lyrics being good or bad, because most of the lyrics on this album are bad, but at least tonally Teenage Satellites rings more true.

I'm excited to see them live, especially with Skiba, but I've really cooled on the album once I started listening to other stuff. I finally checked out Direct Hit's album, which is sonically a blast, and the Descendents new record rips, and even though I'm kind of indifferent to the song as a whole, the provocative nature of the lyrics to Green Day's "Bang Bang" felt fresh or interesting. With all that stuff going on in the pop punk sphere, this album feels stale and safe to me now. Maybe because I listened to it quite a bit upon release, but listening to Direct Hit and the Descendents I have no desire to spin California really at all. I don't think it's a bad album, but it's not one that's left a lasting impression. It doesn't help that I think California could easily lose 5 tracks and be a much more enjoyable/shorter (in a good way) album. Again, not that it's bad, but if they had scrapped No Future/Rabbit Hole/Only Thing That Matters/Kings of the Weekend/the joke songs, maybe included "Hey, I'm Sorry" for a more interesting shift in tone in the tracklist, rather than stack it with the blandly straightforward pop punk songs, it'd feel more full.

I will say it's nice to have an itch for blink-182 music and have an album to go to that isn't permanently etched in my brain like the other (non-Neighborhoods) albums are. For a long time I'd want to listen to blink-182 and put on Enema or self-titled and just be like.. yeah, I know this. I've known it since I was 12. So to want to listen to blink and see California there and have "Cynical" and "San Diego" feel pretty fresh is nice.

I may disagree with you on the songs you dislike in many ways, but I agree with some of the sentiments about liking that there's new music

I listen to all albums on shuffle after the first couple listens proper way and it drives ppl I know nuts.
I'll never skip, I just like to mix up the songs so I'm not hearing the early ones more than the latter

I'll generally listen to it in order unless I'm going to/home from work. That's a 20 minute drive, I like to hop around to the songs I'm craving to hear on those drives. Going anywhere else or on my MP3 though I listen in order

You, of all people, don't like Left Alone? :(

  18. Watching those 60 second interviews and Matt seemed like he felt obligated to pick a Blink song that was his favorite song that he ever wrote aha.

I'm still listening to this album, I don't know why but I can't quit it. It just continues to grow on me. Maybe it's because it's still so new but I keep coming back to it. I don't think there's one really great or classic Blink song on it (like a Dammit, What's My Age Again or Feeling This) but overall the album is pretty solid and just a fun listen. Would probably rank it as my 4th favorite behind Untitled, Enema and TOYPAJ.

The one thing I will agree on is that the album feels like it starts to drag on a bit, especially for me after Home Is Such a Lonely Place until San Diego, even though I do like Kings of the Weekend and Left Alone. The only songs I tend to skip if I'm not listening to it straight through are Home is Such a Lonely Place, Teenage Satellites, Rabbit Hole, and California. I still like those songs but have to be in the mood for them.

  22. I will never understand why "Rabbit Hole" is one that so many people skip.

Lol yeah he had to think with a couple answers, like he was gonna go through every song he ever wrote on the spot? I know a few Trio fans that got offended over that, it's like relax lol.
