i think shut up is the best song on the album.

 

Nine exceeded expectations by a long shot for me.

 

I’d probably replace Happy Holidays, Give Me One Good Reason, and Shut Up with the 3 bonus tracks.

I couldn’t have said it any better....this sums up my feelings on Nine completely.

 

But just maybe....yes.

 

i really like Neighborhoods but feels like it had potential to be so much better, running through every song. there's parts of every song that i love, like the chorus of MH 4 18 11 i think is so good but the rest of the song is straight forward and a little forgettable that i can only imagine how the song would've came together better with a producer, and yknow all 3 of the band, all in a studio together.
the songs are so close to greatness that that extra bit of polish and cohesion would have pushed it up that bit higher and i probably would be considering it one of my absolute favorite blink albums of all.

 

Blink band? never heard of them before. I'm gonna listen their songs so I might able to review.

For those who are so high on neighborhoods, can you explain why? I'm not trying to attack, just genuinely curious. Do you like the production? Lyrics? Do you connect it with a time in your life? Etc etc

 

Well earlier I called it "pretty good," but I was mostly thinking of it in comparison with California and Nine. It's definitely poorly recorded and you can tell that no one was in the room together. I like the riffs in the songs I mentioned earlier ("Natives," "Wishing Well," "Hearts All Gone" and "Even if She Falls"). Mark sounds pretty good when he gets a chance to sing.

this is me. But I also like to tell my wife when it’s Scott on drums. She doesn’t care.

 

Is the only time Mark sings the chorus on Dammit on the record? Even seeing performances of Dammit from the Dude Ranch cycle, Tom is singing the choruses. Wonder why they didn’t record it like that.

 

I always thought it was just so Mark could catch his breath during the chorus and not have to sing the entire song.
