Also it’s so cheap cuz it’s not as powerful as the series x. That windows central article says is as powerful as an Xbox one x and only running at 4tf

The ps5 digital only version has the same specs as the normal ps5. there’s only gonna be a $50-$100 between the 2. not a $200 Cuz of the power difference between the series s and series x

I'm still getting a PS5. Nothing about Xbox's price or (lack of) games is making me change my mind.

Yeah the ps5 launch lineup will be way better then the series x. I mean spider man and ratchet as launch games is already better then anything coming to the series x. I mean why even bother getting a series x if you have a decent gaming pc/laptop

Ps5 is def a day one/launch week buy for me. I’ll either never get a series x or wait a year or so and get it on a deal

I personally don’t believe the Series X will be $500. Still think it’ll be $400 until we hear otherwise from Microsoft.

  7. Prices are fine. $299 is good for a budget. But still nothing that’ll make me grab it (I have game pass for PC so if there’s anything that’s exclusive I’m sure I can play it there)
    PS5 is still the move.

I think it will absolutely be $500. Oh excuse me. $499.

If they have a lower "entry level console" there's no reason to not overcharge people for a console that has no games.

Even 499 is obscenely low for that amount of power. I’m starting to think 599 for both consoles. Maybe 499 for the PS5 DE.

a 1TB SSD with the ps5‘s speed alone is 150 dollars and then we don’t have any sort of graphics card or processor or ram yet.

keep in mind the Series X is 3 times as powerful as the Series S on paper.

PS5 will be $500. Microsoft wants to undercut Sony this generation. Microsoft can afford to take a big loss on Series X sales. Hence, $400.

Pretty sure the graphics cards in both consoles will be something equal to the rtx 2060 or 2070 or whatever. AMD’s equivalent Is since they are running amd chipsets

Both main consoles will be $499 the digital only ps5 will be 399 or 450. Sony isn’t gonna charge 599. I think they learned their lesson with that price for the ps3

Again we are talking about machines with teraflops north of 10. I mean obviously I hope you guys are right but 499 just doesn’t add up for me.

Why even bother getting a series x when I have this fucking beast that will play everything better then what the series x will be able to hit 46F2D02B-0720-4A23-9742-D80A475A66A8.png

If either of them tried to charge $600 they’d be signing their console’s death warrant. It’s not happening. The PS3 and “Five hundred ninety-nine US dollars” is still very much fresh in everyone’s minds.

It’s like people don’t realize how much price influences people that are looking for a console when they don’t care about the specs. If someone who wants a new console just to play games occasionally and will use it primarily for Netflix and other apps (which a lot of people I know do) they will probably choose a new Xbox at $299 over a new PS5 at $400 or whatever the cheap price will be.

Not every person cares about specs or the latest exclusives when it comes to buying a new console. This is a video game thread so of course we do but I’m sure that makes up a large portion of people who buy consoles.

Why buy a console just to watch Netflix on or whatever???? Especially if you have a smart tv. I get consoles to game on not watch Netflix or Hulu or whatever. That’s what my actual tv is for lol. Or get a streaming only 4k player

The Series S is not part of this conversation, it’s likely going to be barely more powerful than the One X. Nobody will be comparing sales of the Series S to sales of the PS5.

If the Series X comes in at $400 and the PS5 is $500, that makes a huge difference to people that don’t care about brand loyalty or console exclusives or things that like.

Exactly why both of them will do $499

I’ve been asking that question for years but the amount of people I know that do is pretty high. It’s probably because some parents buy their kids a new console for Christmas even if their kid doesn’t really care for one so they use it for an entertainment device other than gaming.

Series S is definitely a part of the conversation, wtf

Yeah I’d say Series S is part of the conversation and will definitely bring new people to Xbox. Parents seeing a price tag of $300 for a new console will be the cause.

Even if the series x is 400 the digital only ps5 will be the same price or only 50$ more. But Sony will not be charging 599 like I’ve said and other people they learned their lesson with the ps3 they won’t make that mistake again

Why even bother getting the series s when it’s only going to be as poweful as the one x? The one x will likely see a permanent price drop to prolly 299 when the new consoles come out I mean there’s more games to play on the current gen then there will be at launch of the series x. Halo got delayed so it’s pointless to even get a series x/s at launch. The only game I’m even interested in is forza and that’s prolly not coming out for a year. I can play forza horizon and gears 5 on my pc with way better settings then the series x will give me

Microsoft has waited this long specifically to undercut Sony’s price point. I don’t believe anyone knows the final price of Series X because I don’t believe that decisions has been finalized yet. And I’d be surprised if Microsoft was going to announce the price any time soon either. What incentive does Microsoft have to go first?
