Yeah Mojo Hand is arguably my least favorite song Brian Fallon has ever written lol

He said on Twitter he’ll be playing longer than 30 minutes. The time was probably just a place holder.

"Mojo Hand" is one of my favorite songs from Painkillers. It's one of the songs I listen to most if I'm listening to individual songs. Such a great tune.

Put on Elsie for the first time in a while and again found myself thinking it's the best songwriting of Fallon's career. There's so many holy shit, that's good lines on this album....."My footsteps ain't hung in your hallways enough for you to be truly haunted"....."I age by years at the mention of your name"......"I've got miles on my shoes that your brothers can't buy"...."And lonely, my sister, could not describe all the good things gone wrong."

    Such a perfect, cinematic record.

It's incredible and perfect as a fall album. Not sure if he could ever really follow it up properly, feels a bit like lightning in a bottle.

I think Open All Night is probably the best closing song he's ever done. I love The Backseats like everyone else but that song peaks about midway through, with the rest of it just a bunch of "Yeaaaaaaaah". Open All Night builds the last thirty seconds or so in such a powerful way.

Same. It's not even bad songwriting. Its just way to slow and boring for my taste. Sleepwalkers and Painkillers is my kind of Brian Fallon.

This is an absolutely gorgeous album - but I'm not gonna lie, every time this thread gets bumped I hop in here secretly hoping a few of the more upbeat b-sides he talked about having recorded during these sessions with Peter Katis are getting released.

Agree. Album could have been a little longer and had a another 2 songs that are a little faster in the vein of Hard Feelings and 21 Days. I do love the songs on this record and it’ll be my favourite this year. Still feels short and those extra songs would have rounded it off nicely. I personally, did not need a short Brian album. I too am eagerly awaiting news on what’s next, “is there a new ep or album” in the works.

I knew it would eventually, but I just kept waiting for this album to really hit me and now here i am considering songs for my wedding's first dance lol

I haven’t really left it. I like the songs on this record a lot (just wish it had more tracks).

Has anyone bought his live stream tickets for his past shows? How were they? What was the quality? I love Elsie and I’m seriously considering buying tickets for it.

Would also love some info on his past livestreams.

American Slang play-through is actually on YouTube and the quality seems fine. I think I’m gonna do it.

I listen to Local Honey a lot a lot and it should be longer by at least two tracks (but really at least 3).

I can except time and budget being factor if that’s the reason we get just eight on a full length. It’s an independent release.

Songs on it a really enjoyable, but the experience is too short. I find when I listen to it I go back and have to replay at least two songs. It’s a strange thing I don’t think I’ve ever done with any record by any band to make it feel longer.

This probably happens because I enjoy Brian’s music so much and it is really is a complement to his talent or my appreciation for it.

I know people have said it’s good if it wants you wanting more, but I’m not the kind of person who eats at one of their favourite restaurants and wants to leave hungry. Bad metaphor, I know. Wish he had a couple bsides he could put with this album (and I do have that Dylan cover lines up to play right Local Honey ends).

This is kinda how I ended up feeling about this, which really bums me out and hasn't happened to me before with anything else Brian Fallon has ever released across all of his various projects.

I think this partly comes down to the sheer amount of amazing music that has come out this year. There is so damn much of it. This really feels like an EP to me. It feels kinda slight in a year that has some behemoths of albums that dropped.

fwiw i think his finger-style sparse folk stuff suits him much more than eric clapton-wannabe rock stuff. i think this direction could be for the best
