Santi kinda sucks, huge fall off from the debut

I prefer Barrington, personally. But I DO agree that they had a more adventurous side that the overly negative reactions to Santi kinda squashed. It was a little hit-or-miss, but the half of it that hits really hinted at some potential they never got to realize.

I can agree with that, it was nice to hear them at least go for it with Santi, I think it was a failure in the end but at least they gave it a shot. Barrington certainly was much, much safer, but it's a better album

Look, I like Barrington more than the average fan, but goddamn Santi is their best album and every song slaps

I also really enjoy Santi. Always thought the negative reaction to it was a bit excessive.

Barrington has a few songs I love (The Last Midtown show, Summer Hair, Coppertone, Cougar) but yeah - it’s a very safe record that I rarely go back to. I think the b-sides “Sodium” and “Every Burden a Version” are better than most of the tracks that actually made the record but that’s probably because they sound like they could have been on Santi.

Santi is my favorite TAI record ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I still throw Santi on pretty frequently.

I think I listened to Barrington once. Almost Here is the only one I listen to. Santi is one of those "maybe it'll click this time... nope" albums for me. Not bad but just not into it.

I could write up a myriad of reasons as to why I think Santi is their best record by far and how sad it is that it didn’t commercially do better since that was the peak for the band creatively.

Butttttt this is TBS thread so I’ll spare everyone lol

Almost Here is my favorite of the three, but Santi is the album that got me into them.

Honestly? I only listen to Fast Times. Couldn’t tell you the last time I listened to the other albums.

Also, going back to A City By The Light Divided....people hated that album?!?!

It made me furious at the time that people shit on that and MCS’s Even If It Kills Me, because it torpedoed those bands’ career momentum, only for everyone to realize they were classics soon after

I'm assuming because of the production. I think someone bumped geoffs volume dial by accident and buried his vocals under the mix. For every track.

  14. I do love Common Existence though

I remember thinking the production was trash on City By The Light Divided. Aside from Counting I don't think I can name another song on there. Maybe I'll revisit this weekend.

That's wild. I guess I wasn't very active at all on any online forums really back in the day. Except for Punkdisasters.com (when they started sharing news from other bands other than blink-182) and I remember that place adoring the City By A Light as well as Even If It Kills Me. I always thought EIIKM was well loved from the start.

Interesting, I'll have to listen again.

Exactly! I do really like the record but that is my biggest issue.

Secondly, as much as I used to hate/complain about New Again---I was wrong. Album is great.

Also, made the same mistake about Santi. 0-2.

New Again is TBS's best summer album.

Been playing Carpathia a lot since discussing it in here haha. Still one of my favorites

I have no idea how some of you dislike it so much, I don't get what's not to love about it. One of their more interesting songs while still catchy

Loved their New Again set on Kimmel. Also loved Anberlin doing some backing vocals on their Sink Into Me performance, wearing "I Used To Be In Taking Back Sunday" shirts
