Despite Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s previous statements that the company had removed a militia event where people discussed gathering in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to shoot and kill protesters, the company never took any such action, BuzzFeed News has learned. The event was taken down by the militia group itself after two people were killed. […]

“I fully plan to kill looters and rioters tonight,” one person wrote on the event page, according to screenshots seen by BuzzFeed News. “I have my suppressor on my AR [rifle], these fools won’t even know what hit them.” “When the shooting starts, make sure that somebody is sending a live feed of the mother fuckers going down,” said another. […]

After the shootings, chatter on the Kenosha Guard event page took on a celebratory tone. “Tried to attack business owners, got their azzes shot off. MORE please… this needs to happen a LOT MORE,” wrote one man. “1 protester dead got shot in the head… then they tried to attack the guy and a couple more got shot. Gotta love it,” wrote a man who was labeled by Facebook’s automated system as a “Top Fan” in the group due to his frequent posting.

    Deplorable.

Hey! Just call the 800 number for account services and then the account rep will give you a few different options. It’s really affordable too... like 1% or something per year.

My company does 100% matching for the first 4%, and then will match 50% up to 6%. Contribute as much as you can! I’m 28 and already have one years salary in there.

I have no idea what’s in my 401k since I no longer contribute since getting laid off. I know it’s through fidelity and I estimated I probably put in $10k based on 3.5 years of employment without ever checking it

Sweet thanks for the heads up! I'm going to have to give a call.

I've had my 401k for maybe 3 to 3.5 years and have 1/3 of my current salary in there at age 27 hah. Yikes.

It says my 1-Year rate of return is +17.21% with a +8.66% year to date. Looks like I have -1.4% and -0.6% on a couple small-mid cap equities that I should probably look into. All of these numbers are meaningless to me, but I guess I'm happy that my overall isn't negative? lol

If anyone is employed and has a 401(k) they are not contributing to for various reasons (bills, student loans, etc.), contribute at least to the employer match anyway. That's a 100% return and not contributing is like turning down a paycheck. Your older self will thank you.

That’s still good considering the market took a big dive earlier this year! Yeah, I’d definitely leave it to a professional who can help navigate those intricacies better.

    It’s literally free money!

Casinos and malls have been open in NJ for the past couple months and I haven’t seen any evidence of any spread happening there. Id say we have been pretty smooth here, majority of spikes have occurred because of dumb people holding big house parties and stuff.

(it helps that the casinos aren’t allowed to serve drinks or food so masks must stay on, not sure what the rules will be for NY)

you might want to ensure the guy is a fiduciary... I think (not sure?) that most or all Fidelity investment advisors are, but I know they were sued a couple years ago for not looking out for their clients' best interest in 401(k) plans (link here).

not investment advice (I'm not a professional in the field or anything and don't even have a financial advisor), but if you're paying an advisor a ~1% fee to put some money in some index funds, that could cost you $$ over time. Unless you have large sums of money or a complicated situation, simple can be better. Here's a Nerd Wallet article showing how big seemingly small fees can add up to over decades.
