I inherited some money when my grandpa passed because my mom has also passed. I speak to my fidelity guy. Tells me how much it’s worth. Then I leave it be. I don’t understand much of it at all

I was bequeathed 74 shares of Walgreens stock when I was a kid and it's the only stock I have and it used to be like $80/share but now it's like $35/share and it makes me sad

if I had financial questions, my grandpa was my go to. I’ll eventually actually hire someone but it’s not like I’m rolling in millions

People who already hate Pelosi will be mad about what she did but all in all it doesn’t matter to most people.

Also, you should invest in the stock market. In six months I turned $1500 into $2500. It’s a long game though. And stay away from penny stocks. Also if you have a 401k, get someone from your financial institution to manage it for you. You’ll make great gains.

When you say "your financial institution" do you mean your bank, or whoever carries the actual 401k?

Whoever carries your 401k, in my case it’s Fidelity.

I know i should enroll in the 403B they offer us but I keep thinking about the 1% of my income at minimum I'd be pledging to that every year and thinking "can we actually swing losing that 1% every year?" lol

I mean we have a pension that from what I have been told is well managed and not in danger of going broke or anything so it's not a HUGE deal, but, still.

  14. I just always assume teachers union pensions are being mismanaged because I watch too many tv shows and movies where that is a tertiary plot.

I don't know enough to REALLY know but I think I've been told our pension fund is like 95% funded or something like that.

They also "reformed it" back after the financial crash so now you can't start collecting partial pension until you reach 25 years instead of 20. And the penalty for not waiting for the full 30 years is pretty steep. I think you only get 75% of what you would get if you retire after 25 years. But I'm only in year 4 of being on a contract so I haven't really read into it much lol

I have fidelity for my 401K, too.

Do you just select one of the default suggested stock options, or do you mean you physically call them up for advice? Jw. I feel like I'm not really accruing much, if anything.

My dad's partner is really into stocks so he gave me some suggestions of ones to manually choose a year ago or so and I haven't really touched it since heh

Also, does your company do a match for you? Mine makes me invest a minimum of 8% before they match half of what I'm putting in, I believe

If it was dumb, then why even bother defending the action at all? It just makes no sense. It’s a complete waste of energy and time.

edit: I get what you’re saying about the “hit job”. But I think we are past giving Pelosi the benefit of the doubt, especially when it comes to shit that she should 100% have no issues understanding
