Also, Malek seems SO obviously to be Dr. No that I almost think maybe he's not? I still just don't get what the point of that would be. Outside of Blofeld and Goldfinger, Bond doesn't really have villains known by a mass audience.

Yeah, he’s definitely Dr. No. The imagery in that one shot looks identical to No’s compound.

I don’t think i’m interested in seeing a Goldfinger reboot - it seems like it would be the direction theyre going though if this Dr No theory is correct

I fucking hate that. And it would be a weird way to start out a new Bond.

but really though, bond villains in the newer movies are mostly forgetable besides Silva.

I might be Ok seeing someone play Jaws again hah

It's weird, when I was younger, I loved Goldenye 64 and always thought the movie was eh. Now that I'm in my 30s, I don't really think the game holds up super well, but I appreciate the movie way more. It's actually in my top 5 Bonds.

Goldeneye is 100% in my top 5

  12. I liked le chiffe in casino Royale a lot but then I read the book a few months ago and he's a much better villain in the book. Still a great movie imo.

I watched the entire series all the way through (bought that awesome box set) recently and I'm going to share my rankings because that's all the internet is now, I think:

    1. Casino Royale
    2. From Russia with Love
    3. The Living Daylights
    4. Goldeneye
    5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    6. Dr. No
    7. Skyfall
    8. Goldfinger
    9. The Spy Who Loved Me
    10. Quantum of Solace
    11. A View to a Kill
    12. Licence to Kill
    13. The World Is Not Enough
    14. Moonraker
    15. Spectre
    16. You Only Live Twice
    17. Live and Let Die
    18. Tomorrow Never Dies
    19. Thunderball
    20. The Man with the Golden Gun
    21. Octopussy
    22. Diamonds Are Forever
    23. For Your Eyes Only
    24. Die Another Day

I'm actually just starting up another run through now (I became a bit of an obsessive, my Living Daylights poster can attest to that). I didn't realize until just now that my top 5 is five different Bonds.

The Dalton films are very underappreciated - i also have to watch OHMSS again i havent seen it in AGES.

I never tried to rank them but I think from russia with love is my favorite.

Robert Shaw is too good, maybe my favorite villain or maybe henchman to be more specific.

That fight in the train is one of the best fights in the entire series.

The second Dalton one was shockingly violent and gruesome.

My rankings, recently tweaked them a bit but OHMSS is unlikely to be moved for a while like Goldfinger which was my favourite for a long time. I expect there will be some heat thrown my way with how some of them are ranked but I don't care haha.

I don’t love OHMSS as much as some and I honestly love Diamonds are Forever. It’s so bad it’s good to me.

I think QoS works so much better if you watch it as the second half of Casino Royale.

It is precisely because I love OHMSS so much that Diamonds Are Forever is so low on my rankings, outside of its numerous problems the fact they completely ignore the effort from Lazenby annoys the hell out of me.

See I always thought it was weird they allude to Connery in OHMSS by having Lazenby say something like "this never happened to the other guy"

Yeah that is weird and it is hard to explain but even harder to explain a whole film away, the series with its continuity or lack thereof has been an issue for most of its existence which can get a little annoying at times.

So I guess we find out next week if James Bonding is ever coming back? If they don't do a trailer breakdown for this, I feel like it's done.
