An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

"Miami" wrecks, the TERROR HELD IN WEDDING BELLS bit to the end is all killer

I like this band and many of their songs are good imo

If anyone listens to Fazzi's other projects (Happy Body Slow Brain, Rare Futures) I think it's safe to assume that the band didn't allow his voice to be heard in the songwriting process. Dude's insanely talented and I would've loved another record with him where he had a bigger part in the songwriting.

I was only talking about TBS. Should've clarified.

I'm fine with the current lineup staying together until the band ends. We've gotten three solid-to-great albums from them since they got back together, with Tidal Wave being an unexpected late-career highlight. I'm sure there's more good to come as well.

Anyone else remember when they reunited and said if one of them leaves the band again, the band is over? I'm happy that didn't age well. I actually think Eddie said that haha.

I mean, Error: Operator is a dope song and I'd be bummed if it hadn't made the record, but yeah, Brooklyn is awesome and I wish it replaced Miami tbh

Also, never understood the hate for Money. One of the only songs on that record I enjoy heh.

Can't stand It Doesn't Feel A Thing Like Falling, though. Possibly my least favorite TBS song

Money would fight it out with Cut Me Up Jenny as my dead last. It's probably still Jenny though

I enjoy Money. I always wished they would've made a music video of them getting off their tour bus, walking into a biker bar, putting that song on a jukebox and then getting into a bar fight.

From what I recall from the oral history and all that, the biggest reasons for Fred leaving were a money dispute because Fred wanted more since he wrote/did most of the work on Louder Now, and Mark (and maybe Adam?) getting frustrated with him saying he would basically ignore their song writing suggestions and always "correct" them as the classically trained musician that he was so there was a lot of tension between Fred and Mark especially.

Fred and his vocal trainings seemed to have brought the best out of Adam vocally, it's a shame he got lazy with his voice upkeep after Fred left TBH.

I prefer John overall. I think Fred knows how to write good pop and rock songs whereas john has more of that alt/indie/americana streak in him, so different styles for sure.

It's interesting how different people's opinions can be on their songs. Like, I think Lonely, Lonely is a weaker song than Cut Me Up Jenny, but that seems like a very unpopular opinion :-p

I wonder how much of that improved vocal training was just better tweaks of their live performances because they were a big enough band for it. I remember their set on Fuse seemed very touched up

I'd also take Cut Me Up Jenny over Lonely, Lonely tbh. Though the few occasions I do listen to Lonely, Lonely, I always forget that I do dig the chorus a bit.

I think even on the albums themselves his voice just sounds stronger and better. I guess that could be studio magic but it just sounds like a progression of someone who never planned on being a lead singer (TAYF) doing his best impression of a scene voice to someone who knew how to get the best out of his voice (LN)

On the flip side, I liked Fred's more gruff sounding voice on WYWTB more than on LN where he toned it down a little bit haha

Top 5 worst TBS songs (official albums only)
    - Money
    - Jenny
    - Doesn't feel a thing like falling
    - Like you do
    - Head club

    Dishonorable mention:
    - Holy water (cause of that grating chorus)

John screaming his lungs out at the end of Sad Savior is so good I can't imagine wanting Fazzi to have still been in the band at that point lol

Not knocking Fazzi but come on so much of the self-titled has great moments like that.
