I do agree the production could probably better and accept that it might be a hindrance to some, but it doesn't bother me too much (bar No Closer to Heaven, which would benefit immensely from a whole remaster).

You gotta go back a decade at least to get a Wonder Years record as bad as the last couple Dangerous Summer has put out. Mother Nature was a step back in the right direction but the two before were real bad.

Mother Nature is better than every single Wonder Years record.

I’ve never listened to the dangerous summer but knowing they were heavily featured on Ap.net led me to believe they were terrible. I will assume this is correct.

Edit: no need to assume I know this right.

The Dangerous Summer is a snoozefest. It’s usually pretty easy to find the appeal of artists for others even if I don’t particularly like them, but with them I just flat out do not get it

The newest Dangerous Summer is far and away their best album, the two before that were horrible and their early stuff was mildly enjoyable pop punk stuff

I mean...Mother Nature is good. But it's not substantially better than the s/t.

TDS is a lot better than TWY. At least the first two TDS records, haven't listened to any of the last three

I'm biased, but I think Mother Nature is on par/slightly better than The Upsides, but not as good as Suburbia, Sister Cities or The Greatest Generation. I have not delved into The Dangerous Summer's back catalogue so can't argue how they stack up against TWY.

I truly think the self titled album is the worst thing they've ever done, it's so bad

The only Maine album that I think is good all the way through is Pioneer

If they always sounded like that I would LOVE them, that album is great

I disagree wildly with this assessment. I think it is significantly stronger in every single possible category. Better songs, better lyrics, better vocals, more memorable melodies, better production, more attempts at trying new things, better pacing, and it holds together better as a finished piece. At least on this website, one is considered arguably the band's best album and the other is pretty unanimously considered their worst. I enjoy both, but I don't think there's any contest about which is the better, more fully formed album.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

I haven't liked/loved an entire TWY record since TGG. I definitely lost interest when they doubled down on the melodrama. Shit is so exhausting and cringe worthy sometimes. I think hearing Cardinals for the first time was when they really lost my interest.

    also late to the party:

    Suburbia > TGG > Upsides > SC > NCTH

Lovely Little Lonely is one of my favorite records of all time, but You Are OK is pretty scattershot
