That might be a good statement in a world where the police actually make victims of sexual assault/harassment a priority and not treat them like a joke.

That might be a good statement in a world where the police themselves weren’t full of the predators they wish to protect.

That might be a good statement in a world that doesn’t exist.

  3. It also failed to provide the kind of context needed for someone who knows nothing about the situation to even know how to receive this.

Like, the ages of the parties involved, for example. When they met, how they met, how long the communication went on for. What the nature of this emotional affair actually was. He told us nothing and expected us to simply believe him.

    God, it just never ends.

Privileged white guy makes a statement showing how privileged he is. Such a one-dimensional statement disregarding a slough of other factors ... piggybacking off Anna’s comment

A friend of the victim replied saying they use they/them pronouns and *were* underage when he was speaking to them/soliciting nudes so this is trash on multiple levels.

Yeah my immediate thought after reading that is that she was underage but he’s decided to not consider it pedophilia because it was “strictly based on texting and social media communications” and has decided to not consider it grooming because he “ended communications with her many years ago”. When your best bet is to barter for “asshole” instead of another term being thrown at you, then you know you fucked up big

  7. Two months and this is what he wrote. Is anyone surprised?

He knows perfectly well what their pronouns are. That was intentional. Leaving out the bit about them being underage was intentional. Pursuing legal action... now that’s just stupid. I’d bet he’s not actually doing that, but saying so to back up his aggressive stance on reporting to the police... which the survivor is doing on Monday.

They’ve been prepped for this statement with evidence long before they even told their story. Allowing him to make a statement puts him on record for all of the falsehoods his followers are reading tonight. Exhibit A, if he really wants to take it to court (he won’t).

  8. I was only tangentially aware of the allegations against him and had no idea about their pronouns - that makes his emphasis on "this woman" over and over again SO much worse. And it was already pretty bad, since I assumed the emphasis was about reinforcing the idea that this person was "an adult" the whole time.

Now, it's that AND misgendering. Good god.

  13. Even if they weren't your friend/without you backing it up (although it's very good of you to do so), it seemed pretty clear he had to know what he was doing. I'm so, so sorry he's putting your friend through this.

Reading and Leeds are rightly being called out on this bullshit.

I honestly feel like every year I see on Twitter the same call outs for Reading and Leeds in regards to their lack of diversity regarding female/LGBTQ representation. Boggles my mind they don’t look at the criticism and try to improve on their booking.

I have not personally ever heard that critique of adele, and that sentiment is shared in replies to that tweet. Just a very strange tweet decision.

Amy 100%, I just never viewed Adele’s style as appropriation

that pic is weird as hell but I just don’t get Phoebe’s tweet, haha

    edit:
    She deleted it

Also apparently, per the replies, there’s context to why Adele is dressed like that and a lot of British-Caribbean voices were in Phoebe’s replies telling her that

I know nothing about any of it, so I can’t speak on it

i do think the individual pic has more context for adele

but in terms of the actual music they make/additional stuff outside of the music - it's never going to not be attached to her name

I don't think it's a "cancellable" thing at all but it's not an unfair criticism either
