God Nick Ritchie fucking sucks how did this doofy looking motherfucker go 10th overall??

 

Not to sound over dramatic but this team is rapidly approaching blow-up time.

 

Danton Heinen was nice for those few games

 

I don’t even trust this team to rebuild correctly because even though Don has gotten much better, management will never stop being focused on SIZE N GRIT and completely misses the point that they have to be big and physical *in addition* to being good at hockey

 

The series isn’t even over

 

Idk I have an extremely hard time seeing them coming back. Halak has been terrible, and the bottom six isn’t cutting it

 

I mean they made the SCF and won the president's trophy, I think they'll be ok. My only real concern is they don't know what to do as Chara nears retirement.

 

I love that the flyers are now favored to lose

Little story here. My local OHL team is the Oshawa Generals, and our biggest rival in the area is the Peterborough Petes, who Ritchie played for in junior. Everyone around here fucking hated him during his time there for how much of a greasy little rat on the ice he often was, so reading this kind of Ritchie slander warms my heart like you wouldn’t believe.

 

The Ducks might still be good if they took almost anyone else with that pick.

 

It’s weird though, wasn’t he originally supposed to go that high? It didn’t seem like a reach at the time

 

He was projected to go that high but there was a lot of debate over it because he was a pretty lousy offensive player until his draft year and most of those "power forward" types in junior end up as 3rd/4th liners at the next level. He got most of his goals & points from being bigger than everyone else at a 17 year old.

It was a spotty draft, though. Virtanen, Dal Colle, Fleury, Perlini, etc. were all taken pretty high and didn't pan out either. Ritchie just had a lot of hype because Don Cherry was begging for the Leafs to take him.

 

I wish Ho Sang got a legitimate shot in the nhl

 

When did Dallas get all these depth forwards like Rupert Grint, David Boreannaz, and Radek What Does the Faksay

Probably just rest since they just played last night. Islanders are starting Greiss so it makes sense

 

This feels like the first time in two decades the Flyers have had a solid 1-2 in goal. Its been a tough run.
