That's a...varied lineup.

 

Oh man I love that. I'll see anything with Mindy Kaling because . And Rihanna. And of course everyone loves Sandra Bullock.

 

Didn't realize that was going to be a thing. Pretty excited about this.

 

I had no idea who Awkwafina was; glad Mindy Kaling is not the only Asian in there. Still predominantly white, though, and no Latina so far. But I love Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, and Cate Blanchett, so it should be good.

 

It's just a great cast, I'm into it

 

Would prefer it if weren't under the oceans 11 franchise umbrella. I'd prefer a female cast caper with a more unique take.

 

I don't really care if it is or isn't, I haven't even seen those movies

 

They're very...ok movies. I wouldn't expect anything much more with this cast which is why I'd prefer if it were an original movie that way there'd be more potential for it to be more than "ok".

 

A movie's quality isn't defined by the property it's under.

Also Ocean's Eleven is great. The only expectation that should come with the Ocean's name is that hopefully a bunch of cool, talented people get to be cool and fun in a movie.

 

sure, i mean, if you're into that that's great, but with the way you're describing ocean's movies is pretty much the exact reason why i say a big fat "ehh" to this announcement. I'm not going to run to a theater based on the idea that people get to "be cool and fun" in a movie.

re-shuffling the actors, and in this case, making it an all female cast doesn't make me want to see it any more. Now if this were being re-imagined by a new director, with perhaps an interesting take on these type of stories, i'd be into it...but im sorry, making a new oceans movie with actresses doesn't seem interesting.

 

I'm being a little reductive by describing it like that, especially Ocean's Eleven. Sodebergh is doing some really top notch, fun stuff in that movie, and it's an essential Clooney performance. But I suppose if they're not your thing they're not your thing and that's more than fair, though this film is so so early in the development process I don't think it's fair to write it off at this point

 

Jared Leto is a known joke, but this article does a great job at pinning down how the idea of "method acting" is used to lend more weight to a film then it deserves. When people are "losing themselves" for playing a cartoon Batman villain, you know you have gone too far. It also indicts DiCaprio, who has always been praised for things that do not translate to great performances.

I regret not watching it, but then I don't watch any late night talk shows. There's just too much of it
