in IL, to have any more than a basic first aid cert, you have to be 18 by the time you test. Sounds like he was a ‘cadet’ with a fire department but not licensed in anything.

 

I mean, if you're wearing medical gloves before even tending to someone injured, is there much of a point? They're not sterile then. I guess it's just more for protection of the wearer at that point, but not very helpful for the patient

also, just to reply to your earlier post. We wear gloves in EMS to protect ourselves. We have gloves on the second we step out of the truck..they get changed often in a messy situation..but they aren’t sterile to begin with. They’re only sterile (for us Basics) if we’re delivering a baby. Otherwise, they’re just normal, out of the box gloves.
