So a cool thing that Harry Corrigan’s friends do now is give out people’s phone numbers so that he can text them to try to explain his side of the story.

the text was just some generic “you don’t know the real me let’s talk about it!” shit but just be careful I guess? I would fully lose it if someone gave my phone number to any of the dudes I’ve called out over the years.

it's statements like this that make it so hard for me to accept a band just coming out and saying basically what PVRIS said above, i cannot truly believe that band members have NO idea what their other members are doing while out on the road. it's not enough just to remove someone from the band if you were complicit in their actions as it was happening.

Jesus, Sleep On It were one of my favorite bands in the world. I've talked to Jake tons over the years, and this hurts like fucking hell.

Sounds like this band needs to break up. Same with Neverkept. That original story about the dude from Neverkept is awful. Hope she is doing okay.

  14. Yeah if you're working with him as recently as a few months ago despite saying he left in 2017 then he is by definition 'still in the band'. Fuck that.

  15. man fuck all this shit - twilight zone shit - rinse repeat every few weeks

I dunno what to do but I want to do something to help. all the love and support to the survivors speaking out but fuck it shouldn't just be on them to enact change - we need motherfuckers who look like me to step up.

  16. I'm not sure how to engage with the cultural shift that needs to happen. How do we shift the conversation away from the old goalposts - legality, "proof", and quibbling over what constitutes assault ~exactly~ - towards the reality? Which is that a lot of behavior that has been normalized and socialized as "acceptable" has nothing to do with the social contract, and that the problem here is how certain groups believe it's okay to treat others? The problem here is avoidable pain.

The conversation shouldn't just be about saints and sinners, about abusers and victims. There is a much deeper problem here - why doesn't it bother people to know they're causing this much pain? How do we start that conversation?

I've been thinking about this since Aziz Ansari, honestly. I have a piece called 'It Should Bother You' that's been in my drafts for years. But every time I try to write it, the enormity and hopelessness of the task takes over.

I don't know. I sure wish I did. Because these stories... I and a lot of others have lived them, and thanks to PTSD am still living them. How do you start a conversation when the entire premise of the social contract needs to be re-examined?

This is when I say that these guys are former friends back when I was active in the scene. I never witnessed any of this behavior but, unfortunately, none of it is surprising. I’m disgusted that I once considered any of them friends or attended any shows or parties they threw. I’m seeing women I considered friends post about their experiences and I’m so proud of them coming forward.

Honestly, the Sleep On It guys calling their house The Twerk Mansion should’ve been the first red flag.

Regarding this - their manager is Buck Foley and he also works for Riot Fest. Just took his Twitter private after being called out for his texts.
