One thing I'm curious of is did Fortnite allow people to buy discounted v-bucks on their website?

Youtube is able to get away with that - it's cheaper to subscribe to YouTube Premium or YouTube Music on their website than in their native iOS apps, but Apple doesn't restrict users from taking that route. Regardless of where you sign up, you have the access in the app.

 

I’m loving this Instagram glitch in the latest iOS 14 beta that causes every thing I want to put on my story from my camera roll to just...black out. To post it I need to use the camera roll tool for it to show up. Real dumb.

 

Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling it? That seems to fix a lot of bugs with the Instagram app for us.

I still can’t believe for a company as big as Instagram, how poor their app is. Still not having a dedicated iPad app after all these years is a joke. No way to post officially on desktop also sucks

Intrigued to see what Epic does with the new season of Fortnite. I dont think this decision will have came as too much of a shock as I’m sure their lawyers would have had a decision tree style analysis and had Epic prepare for this scenario.

Rumors that apple will try to cut costs on battery and not moving to 120hz displays just to make up for the cost of 5G chips make me nervous. 5G is a huge drain on battery. Battery life, 5G connectivity, and the 120hz refresh rate were my main reasons for holding out for the 12 Pro.. so we'll see what happens I guess

Chromecast is literally the most trash streaming device there is. I personally have an AppleTV but my girlfriend has a Chromecast. We recently moved and we cannot connect to the Chromecast with our phones no matter what we do even after setting up a new location and resetting it, whereas all I had to do was plug in my AppleTV and connect it to wifi. What's wild too was that we went to my parents over the weekend and we were able to get it to work there, I just don't understand.

I'm definitely just going to buy a second AppleTV at some point, hopefully the new model gets released sooner than later so I can just get that.

 

That's bizarre about the Chromecast. My fiance has an iPhone and I have a Galaxy and neither of us have issues getting it connected. Your internet doesn't have some sort of splash page to log into like an xfinity hotspot, does it? Also, if you have the original Chromecast, they only supported 2.4ghz wifi networks, so it could be incompatible with a 5ghz network you might have going.

I admit that it can be slow though and the audio is crap. I use loud noise reduction on my Apple TV and Roku so I haaate how loud things get through the Chromecast when music or bass kicks in, so it mostly sits in the drawer except for vacations or ... HBO Max since Roku doesn't have it yet lol.

 

Almost got the mid tier 27" iMac today with 32GB ram and 1TB ssd - puts it pretty much right at 3k with taxes though and I'm not ready to invest that, though I know it'd be a godsend for work where I'm having to tab all over the place on my 15" mbp. I'm probably going to wait till January and see how I feel then but I want that monitor space lol.

 

We just got one at work. Buying 4 more. I’m having a BLAST setting them up. Bummed with all the T2 and APFS stuff I can’t create a restore volume to set up each system as a mirror of itself. I have to put them all next to each other and do migration assistant. Still only took 20 mins or so.

Nope, it does not. I tried resetting and switching to the 2.4ghz network but still nothing. It lets me access the settings but it will not lot me stream from my phone. The only thing I've been able to do is stream from a laptop on the chrome browser. I forgot that the first day we were here I was able to stream a basketball game but then neither of us have been able to connect with our phones since then.

 

I was really feeling writers block today and decided to pull out my iPad to get some writing done. Man, using a trackpad on iPad is a game changer, I wish I could just get all of my work done on this thing.

 

I suspect the blur between MacOS and iPadOS to really change over the coming years. Can’t wait for that.

 

Im looking to get a 2018 iPad Pro to replace my older Air. I'm pretty sure it works with Apple Pencil Gen2 but does it work with that fancy new Magic Keyboard? That thing is expensive but a cheaper iPad may just offset that for me.
I think that pencil to type feature finally sold me on upgrading, and even that slightly older iPad Pro is still a hell of a device, at least much nicer than what i have.

Is it possible to get a phone unlocked to use with a different carrier while it has the beta installed? My girlfriend messed up her phone and won’t be able to get it fixed for like 2 weeks so I was going to let her use my old X, but I wasn’t sure if I had to remove iOS 14 before we take it to get it unlocked.

 

Anyone ever have an issue with Apple Music just not counting plays on the desktop app?

I set up a Release Day Smart Playlist using the rule "Grouping is 2020/08/28 AND Play Count is 0" so that when the song is played, it's removed from the playlist. I had it playing while I was working all day yesterday and it was working as it should. Turn on my computer this morning and the Play Count for everything I played yesterday is blank and they're back in the Release Day playlist.... BUT STILL SOMEHOW ON RECENTLY PLAYED. This happened to 107 277 songs.

I've already accepted that play counts from the iOS app are very hit or miss but man, not being able to keep an accurate play count on the desktop app is really annoying.

 

Nah, you'll just request the unlock through your carrier. They just do a check on the IMEI to make sure it's not currently tied to an installment plan. If it's not, then they will approve the unlock request. They don't do any sort of software version checks.

Yeah, I've done it a few times previously. It's actually a really simple process.
