The “guitar solo” at the end of Deaths Heart is so subdued and I love that but I wanna see it POP OFF live.

I really enjoy this. Calais to Dover is one of my favorites on here and I don’t see enough love for it.

You're right. The only problem with Calais to Dover is that it's sandwiched between two colossally awesome tracks so it's easy to overlook. classic middle child effect.

I don’t have access to my record - who is on track three and the female singing on to deaths heart? Is it Jim James?

Halfway through and this is way less hooky than where Bright Eyes was going from I'm Wide Awake... through People's Key. I think it's going to have to take a bit for the vocals to hit me right because the melodies aren't really sticking with me, but the lyrics and the instrumentation are off the charts. Interested to see where this ends up in their discog for me.

I love how massive and cinematic this record feels though.

Edit: maybe I spoke too soon? Wasn't done with the record and Tilt-a-Whirl through To Death's Heart was super catchy. Just getting to Calais to Dover now.

    Calais to Dover broke me.

Had a stupid ass grin on my face from the first track and it never really went away. Listened right at midnight last night and again in the car this morning. Planning on doing the NPR first listen thing at 4pm for my third run through.

BRIGHT EYES IS FUCKING BACK Y'ALL!!!!

Gotta say I’m pretty bummed by the record. Glad everyone is enjoying it though. Not much I really love here. I think “Dance and Sing” and “Mariana Trench” are great but nothing else is clicking for me.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

i was pretty high on it after first listen but have had zero interest returning to it outside of Calais to Dover
