I love For Emma and the ep but lyrically they're both pretty bad. With how boring I find s/t (and my relatively poor first impression of this new stuff) I'm less willing to overlook that now.

 

BI, BI is fucking magical. The new stuff is sounding incredible. For Emma is a great great album but I think what came after is much better.

 

I'm with you. For Emma is what got me into him, but I feel he just keeps getting better.

For Emma is the best BI release and probably the best Vernon release but everything he's done has been great

 

Please don't I need someone to gush about Engine Down with

 

Count me in the "I don't like Bon Iver" camp. His voice is grating after more than about 30 seconds, the lyrics are subpar, and the music is just . . . boring.

I do give props for branching out and trying something different with these new songs but, in my opinion, it didn't succeed.

 

how can anyone listen to "Perth" or "Holocene" or "Beth/Rest" and think the music is boring?

The music is great, it's just the constant falsetto that gets old real quick

 

The Beatles are kind of bad

 

Maladroit > Pinkerton > Blue > Make Believe > Red > everything else and/or don't care

 

Yeah, the whole 'masturbatory' style of playing ridiculous technical wankery is a turn-off. Technical skill can't make up for poor song-writing.

Radiosurgery is New Found Glory's best album. Coming Home is an okay album with good intentions but poor execution.

good guitar solos serve a function in the song, they bring it to a place it might not of gotten to if it wasn't there.

 

Just listened to all 3. "Holocene" literally goes nowhere. "Beth/Rest" musically sounds like a spoof of a bad 80's song and does little to hold my interest. The most interesting one (relatively) is "Perth", but the cheesy marching band drums and the repetitive riff take me out of it.

 

Is the genre "well written music"?
