Oh shit I just realized Loomer was that asshole who tweeted a few years ago that she was late to a meeting because she couldn't find a non-Muslim cab or Uber driver

I mean it’s more just the amount of voters out there that know nothing but the headlines so they might have heard some rumblings about some sort of “socialist” policy or whatever and then they might see “Colin Powell endorses Biden” and they don’t automatically think “the guy that lied to the UN about WMDs?”, they think “oh that guy served with a Republican President I guess that means Biden isn’t some far lefty”.

I mean it’s dumb standard politics stuff that assumes (correctly?)that most people aren’t connected enough to care about these interparty arguments about who they choose to “associate” with and whatnot.

The odds of the average American having heard “Democratic Party” and “Policy” in the same sentence within the past three months is lol

Sure, probably. I personally think Dems should lean into being called/not run away from being called socialists by embracing popular policies. I feel like by running away from that label and not embracing those policies, it undermines the argument frequently made to people like me that we need Dems to achieve socialism/those policies. So what winds up happening is that Dems give the left the stick and conservatives/moderates get the carrot.

Apparently there was some scandal about them

Yankee Rings Become Issue for Giuliani
Now, as he runs for president, Mr. Giuliani found himself yesterday denying that his affection for the Yankees had been returned by the team in the form of discount diamond World Series rings and free tickets.

“I paid precisely what anyone else would pay,” Mr. Giuliani said in response to a report in The Village Voice that explored how he came to possess four commemorative rings identical to those given to players and coaches on its most recent championship teams.

The article focused on whether the $16,000 that Mr. Giuliani paid for the diamond-encrusted rings from championship years 1996 through 2000 represented their real value as jewelry or as sports memorabilia.
