I kind of want to rewatch Brick. I considered it my favorite movie for a few years, but I have a suspicion it doesn’t hold up very well

Rian Johnson always makes me think of Duncan Jones for some reason, which always makes me think... what happened there?

I thought Moon was fantastic, Source Code was mid-range but I had no interest in Warcraft, at all. Then I never saw Mute, is Mute worth it? Is it a worthy successor to Moon?

  6. Don Jon was so bad

Moon and Source Code are great. Never saw Warcraft or Mute but I heard Mute was horrifically bad.

i love moon. source code is a decent premise but not great. didn’t see warcraft since i never played the games. mute might be worse than don john, which is saying something.

damn, I figured Mute wasn't good based on the fact I have heard literally nothing about it. I hope he's not a one-and-done with Moon, because I would love to see another movie from him of that quality

Yeah I didn't know much before, and totally take back what I said after continuing to watch. We're hooked and just got to the end of episode 4 and god... that was really rough to hear

I never heard of Mute before the last few posts about it. 30-seconds of Google research tells me Paul Rudd is in it playing a character named “Cactus Bill” so I will definitely be watching this tomorrow, no matter how bad the RT% (which is 21 btw).

One thing I’m discovering (and it could very well be me since I have to watch a new movie/show every week) is I’m not retaining very many movies released this year. I forgot about “Da Five Bloods” even though I liked it.

Watched a bunch of stuff no one watched to begin with (“Selah and the Spades,” “All Day and A Night,” “Blow The Man Down”). And it wasn’t because they were particularly bad, I just feel like with all these streaming services constantly feeding the beast that they barely have much time spent promoting them before moving on to the next thing.

I feel like this hasn’t been a bad movie year, but it will feel like a lost one.

50/50 is one of my favorite movies of all time so JGL will always have points for me

And yeah he's great in 500 Days of Summer, Inception, Looper and The Night Before too

Glad you are enjoying it. The whole thing was really incredible. As someone who read the book, it was a great "adaptation" and I picked up on more things by watching it.

Agreed, episode 4 was heartbreaking. Last 2 episodes were fantastic

Most movie stars are bad directors. Affleck and George Clooney had early critical praise but lost their way. Bradley Cooper had a visual flair on A Star is Born that impressed me but was too into the mythology of his character and not enough into the story of Lady Gaga's. Denzel makes showcases for actors that work fine enough but aren't really distinctive from the directorial perspective.
