Regardless of the time or money that goes into it, Nintendo won't release their whole back catalogue, at least not at once. They know people will pay for them and pay top dollar so they will continue to do remasters of individual entries and stretch it out as long as possible to ensure they get the most profit.

And then charge everybody $20 a year to play Pop'n' Twinbee.

Skyward Sword is my 3rd fav Zelda game so I’d like to see it ported sometime

If it’s true, I’m frankly shocked they put the work in to figure out how to make Skyward Sword playable without the WiiMotion+ controller. Figured that’d be too much work so they’d just port over Wind Waker and Twilight Princess because those Wii U versions are already done. Figured Skyward Sword would never be re-released.

oh, most played games you say?

    Splatoon 2 - 1,195 hours
Animal Crossing New Horizons - 270 hours
    Hollow Knight - 115 hours

I was pretty sure my time in Enter The Gungeon was pretty high too but for some reason it's showing "15 hours or more"
not sure if that's because i play that on both my home Switch and my Switch Lite when i'm at work but i DEFINITELY played that game more than 15 hours

Skyward Sword is a great game despite people being meh about it not being open world enough or whatever. The dungeons in this game are some of the best ever. Love that pirate ship level and the boss.

It blew my mind that ACNH alone has passed the lifetime sales of all Metroid games. Just with how much noise is made by fans I figured it had done way more than that

Yeah. That’s why I was saying Metroid wouldn’t be a strong launch title for a new system. No one seems to be crazy about it other than Nintendo fan boys like myself.

A skyward sword game that doesn’t involve me swinging my controller around would be very welcomed

Metroid would be a great launch title regardless of how the series’ past sales stack up to that of a literal comfort game that came out at the beginning of the once-in-a-hundred-years pandemic. Comparing those two franchise’s sales is really weird and says nothing about Metroid. Nintendo wouldn’t have invested in entirely restarting development of Prime 4 from scratch if it wasn’t going to sell. That this conversation keeps taking place is endlessly puzzling to me.

Yeah the people who play Metroid v the people who play AC let alone during a pandemic is not a fair argument for sales.

Also Astral Chain continues to immerse me deeply. Great game.

Like hasn’t New Horizons sold more than Breath of the Wild at this point? Lol guess that wasn’t a strong launch title because Animal Crossing outsold it.

I thought the Skyward Sword hub world and art style were great, the controls were pretty impressive too, the actual non-hun world zones I did not care for and you all know how I feel about dungeons

I dont really know shit about shit, but hasn't pretty much every Nintendo franchise seen a big lift on the switch? Feels like metroid could be huge just by virtue of it being on this platform.

Yeah that too. Weird how games tend to sell a lot on a console that a ton of people actually bought lol

I think the Switch boost is exactly what Metroid needs.

But it’s also true that post Metroid Prime, Metroid was never a top tier Nintendo franchise in terms of sales, not even lower top-tier, so it’s definitely not going to do AC or BotW numbers. I don’t actually know how well the SNES games did.

You're missing the point, man. Metroid isn't in that same tier as Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and now Animal Crossing. It would make 100x more sense to launch a brand new system with something from that IP set. Like it or not, Metroid is more in line with Star Fox, F-Zero, and Pikmin in terms of selling power.

I'm not arguing that Metroid games aren't phenomenal. They are. Super Metroid > everything. I'm just thinking it wouldn't be a smart launch title.

It’s not just that, the a lot of Nintendo games for Switch have unusually high attach rates too

I agree with Metroid not being in that tier, but I think the Switch could maybe get it there, or closer to it

Absolutely. That's basically my argument. I wanted Metroid Prime 4 to land right in the middle of the Switch's life cycle and not towards the end when everyone has kinda moved on from it.

I’m still surprised we haven’t gotten the Metroid Prime trilogy on switch yet.

I’m not missing your point, I think your point is incorrect. It would be a great launch title, the hype for a new Retro-developed Prime game would be enormous.

Well that's just the only context I've ever been given to Metroid sales. Not dissing it, I love the franchise and wish it got more love. Loved the 3DS one, would kill for one like that on Switch. Or any.

Just that from a pure numbers standpoint I would've guessed it did way more than 18 mil in it's entire existence, idk.
