that isn't how the math works. test failure is not an independent event. so you can't just go "this test has 90% sensitivity so if you test twice you'll get 99%" because it could be there is just some factor that is causing the test to fail for a given person, and taking the test again won't necessarily help with that

Anyone know if there's a handy web tool to see if my state allows ballot drop-off with a city clerk or something?

he doesn’t elaborate but I assume he’s saying the tests are accurate enough that the odds of getting a false negative are 1% or below if you take it twice

  8. From what it looks like he's saying, that would be the probability that both tests return true (if each test result is independent). The probability that at least one test returns true would be 99%.

    If P(X) = 0.9 and P(Y) = 0.1, and there are two independent trials, then: P(XX) = 0.81 P(XY) = 0.09 P(YX) = 0.09 P(YY) = 0.01

    I think that's what he's doing.

right. But the assumption that each test result is independent isn't correct

yesterday, I had one normal test 2-3 days for results) and a rapid (15-20 mins). I only got the 2nd because of the procedure I had. The ER nurse and I were taking and she said they’re getting closer to giving everyone the rapid test. I do NOT understand why everyone isn’t that.

she didn’t like the backlash she got for NOT speaking out

our mail in ballot application said we could drop them off at our county clerks office. We’re still gonna vote in person. I’m
Thankful to live in the middle of nowhere. I think 85 people vote on average in big elections.
