My anxiety is health-related so yeah, it’s been a up and down 6 months of pandemic.

I had to see my cardiologist again and then they had me do a sleep study, so I did an at home sleep study and they’re telling me I have mild sleep apnea now. So now I have to go into the sleep center tonight to do a CPAP study.

    fucking fantastic.

The catholic left? There is such a thing? That’s almost like there being a capitalist left

There are plenty of liberal Catholics who value science, don't believe homosexuals are sinners or that abortion is wrong tbf. The bad ones are just the loudest ones

With the notable exceptions of gay marriage and abortion, the teachings of Catholicism largely fall much more in line with the Democratic Party than the Republican Party

For sure. In the beginning every ache I was sure I had it. Now I just welcome the sweet sweet relief of death.

there’s a pretty storied history of socialist/left Catholicism actually, although they were focused on issues impacting workers and the poor while often still holding backwards views on things like contraception, homosexuality, or other social issues.

Jesus had a lot of socialistic teachings imo

Yep. Like, Liz Bruenig is a pretty high profile modern example, & Dorothy Day is a pretty good & (in some circles) well known example from semi recent history. As much as the Roman Catholic Church's official religious structure is kinda the opposite of leftist, the Church also has a decent history of people active in certain justice issues.

Lol NH just made masks mandatory for gatherings of 100 people or more, but of course schools are exempt

In my experience "Catholic left" is code for "Jesuits"

Yeah I feel like most of them also don't mention that their religious either as much or it's not as noticeable as part of their identity.

So how is the DNCs messaging on the USPS? They're pushing hard on making this a focal issue I hope. Cause this is definitely something you can in the narrative on and put in the plus column.

Like i want to see attack ads regarding this with scare music and font about trump defunding the USPS.

It really depends on where you go. When I was Catholic I went to super conservative churches and super progressive churches. You don't usually know what you're getting until the mass begins.

Yeah, I went to a church where super conservative older folks basically ran a new priest out of our town because he had the *nerve* to make church fun and crack jokes to get younger people engaged, and to point out hypocrisy within evangelical Christians. Very quickly turned back into a super conservative, judgemental church

And I've also gone to a Catholic church run by a gay priest that was much more open, progressive, and had a live rock band to get the younger folks engaged. Definitely depends on the area
