I don't know the intimate details and I just looked it up for more info and it looks like whatever occurred between them on twitter has vanished from the internet. I do know KBD has mental health issues and probably needs help, but i've heard chatter about him being a self-important asshole to collaborators, etc... not sure what's going on but yeah it's unfortunate

definitely gotta pick up the SotL albums, can only imagine how beautiful they are. oof I can already feel the dent in my wallet forming.

What are some of the best more beat-oriented ambient records released this year?

Thanks for these. My description was intentionally vague.

Found this after a writer I follow on Twitter, Joshua Minsoo Kim, claimed it was the best ambient album of the 90s. It’s pretty sublime:

This collection is also pretty good:

Been listening to that Bing & Ruth record a lot since it came out. Love the sound of that keyboard organ.

Not sure if this was posted but it's otherworldly and lovely. Glitchy, watery, loopy, ASMR. Dude drums for the band Big Thief.

Gonna dig into the Aloof Proof album next.

edit: Aloof Proof was gorgeous, thanks for sharing @Gjpeace

This is the best ambient album so far in 2020 in my eyes. Amazing stuff.

For being such a shit year, 2020 has had some great ambient albums. Will be tough making my final list but I'm sure Roly Porter will be on it.

BTW, hope y'all are listening to that Susana López record. It's beautiful.

Still amazes me that a dude I used to hang around with at Club Kerrang! about 12/13 years ago is making music like this now haha

Thanks man, that's a beaut. Don't think I've heard quite that particular mix of stuff before but it works really well. Creates a really detailed environment.
