  1. My wife and I watched Host lastnight. Very well done and effective movie! We were definitely creeped out. And clocking in at just under an hour, I was still able to go to bed at a decent hour. Win/win!

Their story is super interesting. Making incredibly surreal horror films and otherwise avant-garde storytelling for the purposes of being played during church services along with the sermon or at other community events. They viewed filmmaking as a social tool much more than just a form of entertainment and so their work has a very different feel all the way through.

I gotta say I really liked brutally killing the two characters you think are going to be the leads. As dumb as the charm bracelet part is, I'd love to see a brutal Jason attack in broad daylight.

My main problem with the back half and with Jason is that he’ll injury a character and then before he kills them he runs after someone else which just seems odd. Also Jason killing people in the town just seems kind of ridiculous to me.

I agree with that, but something about the brutal nature that he goes about doing it got me into it more. Just no regard for what he’s doing/being reckless. Made him more primitive, in a way. I could agree with it only happening once instead of like every time lol

it was only the first draft, so I hope he would’ve bulked up the first half. Truly dreadful stuff in there, even if it is meant to be a direct homage to the cheesey bullshit in 80s films.

I did really like the kills, especially Jason using a bone saw to saw Brad’s skull in half

I can't get a photo because it's a client's dog, but I just looked evil in the face of a dog. Idk if anyone else ever feels that, but this one grey-eyed snarling english bull dog was from hell.

I think it was on Netflix for awhile but not sure now. It's definitely worth it though.

Has anyone seen the Urban Legends sequel? It's on Shudder and I loved the first one so I may check that tonight. A young Anthony Anderson and Eva Mendes!

When I was a kid my local video rental store only had Final Cut, it wasn’t until like last year I realized there was one prior. It’s fine, if you liked the original you’ll get a kick out of this one!

Just revisited Near Dark, of all the 80s vampire films this ones always been my favorite. I wish Scream would get the rights from Lionsgate/StudioCanal because it’s in dire need of a restoration/special edition upgrade. The original Anchor Bay special edition from 2002 is the best edition but it’s been nearly 20 years!

  25. Been thinking about revisiting this one (it's been a couple of years), I definitely liked it and would say it's worth watching for the practical effects alone. I don't remember much, and I'm sure it's not perfect, but it's hard to go wrong with Joe Dante!
