oh yeah the performances in this movie were incredible no doubt! the score felt like the main character for this movie really, it must have been so quiet on set haha

I'd def say it was a slow burn because the whole movie is building tension until it finally breaks, it's not a bad thing by any means it's just a different approach to horror.

You should really check out Beyond The Black Rainbow, the score in that movie is also insane.

 

I'll definitely track it down. I haven't heard of that one, at least it doesn't ring a bell off the top of my head. If you can compare it to the other film, then I want it on my radar.

 

it's the directors only movie, his dad was a horror director and he used all the money he was left to make this movie so it's very uncompromising in it's vision.. it used to be on netflix for a long time but it just got taken down. Try to find the highest quality version you can because it's just stunning to look at. One of my favorite movies of all time.

 

Trailer looks impressive. I'm struggling to put my finger on what it reminds me of. It'll come to me eventually. I'll watch it for sure.

 

I started Stranger Things this weekend and I gotta say, I get a lot of little pieces from different shows/movies that have come out recently, but the most notable is The Whispers (ABC or NBC)

An alien entity targeting children and communicating through light. Obviously there is more to Stranger Things than Will speaking to his mother through the lights, but I thought it was interesting that both of these shows shared similar ideas.

I like it, but the use of 80's "nostalgia" ruins it for me; in the later episodes they do rely on a more original Carpenter-esque score so there is still hope. I'm only starting episode 7.

I just saw this a couple nights ago. It was very good. Film balanced the supernatural scares with the real problems of being a woman in such an oppressive society in war times. It really surprised me to see a film like this come out of Iran because it shows them in a rather harsh light.

The Jaded Horror Fan: The Walking Frustration

 

Probably doesn't fit here but I wanted to share it anyway. It's a piece of a short script I'm attempting to write which is centered around a troubled couple, very troubled. It's a dark love story where love is equated to death, or better yet, having your lover kill you.

I've only done a handful of pages, including the climax, so it's far from finished. I plan to make this a short in the area of about 20 pages.

When I say "dark love story", think of She Wants Revenge or even some HIM.

It hasn't happened yet, but I know I will become annoyed with non-book readers complaining about this adaptation.

There's really no reason to compare to the 90s mini-series.

That's why Annabelle was annoying or one of the reasons. Nobody would buy that demon. Even my great grandma who had a huge creepy collection of dolls prob wouldn't have bought that doll. Sometimes things are scary because they look unassuming or playful.

 

There is a movie called Robert, I suggest everyone check it out.

Clearly I should watch this cause it's been recommended to me on here twice now!

 

It is a real turd, but super fun to watch. Robert's voice is so over the top, and instead of spending money on CGI or animatronics, they just shot his feel when he was "walking". It really was hilarious to watch.

 

Sounds amazing. Will watch this week

My immediate reaction to the Pennywise picture was it's a little much but it's also just a promo picture so I'm not worried (or at least that's not the reason I'm worried about the movie)

 

I've never seen It, I'm not sure why.
