Was actually just looking to rent a copy of this after buying the first one. Never seen it. How does it stack up to the first?

 

Watched The Invitation last night, the build up to that last 15-20 or so minutes, wow. Was super impressed

 

I've only seen the second one. It's good though

 

Really good, but isn't as campy as the original (like inserting comic book visuals into the segments) and its only 3 stories. Haven't seen the third Creepshow due to the bad reviews I read

 

Wait the second one has the animated framing sequence I'm pretty sure

Finished Holidays. The Halloween one was awful. Christmas and New Year's were alright. Overall Father's Day and New Year's were best, but this isn't a good movie.

 

That trailer looks incredible, but it also looks like it's given away the whole movie. I hope that's not the case.

This one more so than the first. Seems to have new clips from the third act/final scene I didn't see in the first trailer. Absolutely stay away!

finished holidays last night. gosh the halloween segment was so dumb. kinda liked easter and father's day but eh.

 

The Blackcoat's Daughter was the best horror film I've seen this year. Such a surprise. I hope everyone gets to see it.

Snagged some tickets for a midnight showing of The Greasy Strangler as per of Bruce Campbell's Horror Convention. Seems like a movie that will play well the the midnight horror crowd.

 

just watched this.. the sound/music in it was really well done. I liked it overall it was a slowburn for sure, it just felt odd that when the tension finally broke it kind of kept the same eerie drone vibe it had throughout. I don't even know what to call this kind of movie, I've definitely seen a few like this, where there are never just two characters having a normal conversation haha

have you seen beyond the black rainbow? reminded me a lot of that with the way they used music and the long pauses in dialogue, it just also has some of the most gorgeous cinematography and designs I've ever seen.

 

I agree the score was very impressive. I don't know that I'd say this was that much of a slow burn. The movie amped in intensity gradually, but it was hitting some high marks pretty early. Between each of those bigger scares, there was a lot of tension. I credit that to, again, the excellent score and the incredible performance by Kiernan Shipka.

As a side note, this year has been filled with performances by amazing young women. Shipka, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Imogen Poots just to name a few. These girls crushed it this year.
