Parasite was successful because Bong Joon-ho knows how to make films that American audiences will watch because so much of the film is about action rather than dialogue. He did the same thing with The Host. Since foreign films are rarely blockbusters, they are usually very dialogue-driven, which turns Americans off. To be fair, though, the same thing happens with American films performing better overseas when they are action rather than a comedy or drama.

 

Did people not like Fallout 4? (I vaguely remember it came out around the same time as Mass Effect Andromeda and they were both received rather poorly--I haven't played ME3 yet.) I like the main story and gameplay mechanics more than 3 and NV i think. Although the Capitol is still my favorite setting.
