Thomas gave an Eminem album like a 90 even tho it's universally reviled even by him now, those scores are meaningless

I always remembered people liking rooms too cold as the classic and thinking that he went overboard with the mother path mechanic

It's a fantastic concept album. I've loved it since it came out. Not that ridiculous considering there's only a couple filler tracks, vast majority of it is quality music and/or important to the storyline

Oh come on you can do so much worse when it comes to pop punk. At least they're creative and do things other than just power chords over a straight beat

That's my favorite album of all time!

It's weird how much animosity TEN/Ace happen to stir up when mentioned in some parts here though. Hard for me to honestly understand why anyone hates them that much, but hey, opinions I guess. Their music fills me with unparalleled joy.

Naw. I don't really see the need to release it all at once. Xtina, one of my faves, has a double album and I listen to it like never. I find them unnecessary almost all of the time. Like I said, I rarely come across one that couldn't be trimmed down a lot. I find most of them bloated and uneven

Has to be not liking the voice/lyrics. Instrumentally they're great but I can see how Ace can be grating on some people especially since he was so raw early in their career

I guess. I mean, I usually just listen to one of the CDs at a time, I'd probably save a whole double/triple album for a road trip of some sort. No rule saying you have to sit through the whole thing every time.

No, but I get annoyed cause it often doesn't feel necessary. So many multi-disk albums could be cut into one so I'd rather not put them in and have to skip around all the filler. Cut out all the bs and release one great album instead of 3 bloated and fillery ones and I'll be good ha

They could've made one great album but went for four okay ones. The only album of that scope that works is The Alchemy Index. That album is perfect and Thrice's best work.

While I've always loved his voice, and TMTMTP does have my favorite vocal performance from him, he's undoubtedly gotten technically better as time goes on.

Also, I'm usually not very fond of double/triple/whatever album, because as @Kiana said, the fat can almost always be trimmed to make a better single album. TMTMTP is a very rare exception to that for me.

I think he definitely sounds good on tmtmtp - way better than trtc - but I think he sounds better on each new album tho

Agreed, although air is a notch below the others IMO

I'd agree with that. But earth is by far my favorite so it's okay haha. Like, most of my favorite Thrice songs are Earth.

Undoubtedly so. My preference toward TMTMTP's vocals has to do more with things other than technical skill.

Fair enough. I feel that way about most of my favorite albums haha

Somehow I still haven't listened to the path..........

Honesty, I just love Ace's middle register a ton. I do love when he goes for those high notes, and sometimes he really blows me away in that regard, but idk, a lot of my favorite moments from him tend to be understated.

Also, as far as the path goes, it has some excellent material on it. Never Coming Back, in particular, is one of my favorite TEN songs, and one I can rarely make it through with dry eyes. It's not really a traditional "album", though in the way the first two discs are. I view it more as an audiobook with musical interludes than anything else. Lol.

TMTMTP discussion reminds me of how everyone knew Lights and Sounds was garbage for years and now some people get really defensive over it

Sure, you can do a lot worse. That doesn't make them great, decent, or remotely tolerable. The genre is a cesspool.

Or, ya know, different people have different responses to various works of art and that's a very personal thing to people and sometimes it sucks to see others completely discount the merit of things that are important to you.

TMTMTP is an album I frequently put on when I'm having days where I feel hopeless and need a pick me up. Can't count the number of times I've listened to that album when I've felt suicidal. I can't lie and say it doesn't suck to see people utterly shit on something that has that kind of meaning to me in the way thst they are. That said, I do know it's not personal and they aren't really attacking me or my taste, per se. It just makes sense to me when I see people defending albums fiercely when they're torn apart with equal ferocity.

"A Little More Time" is a dope song. There are a couple others that I like. That's the furthest I've gotten in liking TEN. I don't dislike them, just haven't heard much

I want to say, in addition to my last post, that I do understand that this thread is specifically a space for people to articulate their feelings towards artists in a very honest way. I completely respect that, and I wasn't trying to discount that with my post. I just think sometimes certain things come off a bit more personal than intended. @FTank's comment kinda hit a nerve with me in all honesty, because it framed the people who defend certain albums that aren't widely praised as being ridiculous or lesser than those that dislike them. I doubt that was the intention, but I got kinda caught in my emotions for a minute.

that song is definitely one of my favorites
