Having the GOAT tonight then trying the individual breakouts later one by one.

This really is one of the best widely released year round stouts I've had.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

It's a small thing, but I've got a haul being delivered tomorrow from Beale's out of the west in the state here in Virginia. They're opening up a second location next year 10 minutes down the road, and I figure it'd be good to support them. Their stuff isn't anything revolutionary, but they make a damn good helles lager and have a peach tea blonde that'll be a nice patio beer for the rest of the summer while it's too damn hot, and I still can't go anywhere. I'll post pics tomorrow here/on Untappd.

I feel like I'm at the point in my craft beer tasting career that I'm really done going after high ABV beers and just sticking with stuff that's good and drinkable like the Dovetail stuff @MexicanGuitars posting this past weekend (I miss them and Metropolitan so much). Anyone else find themselves in a similar boat?

I know many in this thread aren't particularly fond of it, but I'm starting to see a lot of pumpkin beers hit the shelves. Personally, I love them!

After work I plan to get a six pack of Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale and four pack of Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel...two of my favorites from previous years.

I'm in the Manayunk/Roxborough area. left around 7:15am and got there around 11:30-11:45am with one stop on CT-15/Merrit Parkway (made my online order during this stop). maybe 20 minutes of being in line at Tree House. and then we visited my fiance's aunt (stayed outdoors the whole time) for about two hours. left her around 3:00pm and got back around 7:30pm with one stop on the NJ Turnpike. traffic was unbelievably in our favor.

I saw online (completely blanking where now) that VT"s tourism (like tourism across the country) is very low, but the Alchemist obviously doesn't want to stop production, so they're distributing it a lot more. I guess it's one positive regarding COVID.

agreed that it's everywhere now though. we used to get it like twice or three times a year, and now it feels like it's monthly that we get a drop.

  8. All this seltzer talk made me buy and try my first Trulys today. Had Pineapple and Mango so far. Drain poured them both after a few sips.

For sure. I've been crushing the lighter lagers and Berliners hard this spring and summer. Unfortunately that means I have a cellar full of 400+ stouts, lambics, wild ales, and barleywines just continuing to pile up and collect dust

I wonder if I'm just seeking lighter, easier stuff since my general alcohol consumption has increased a good bit during Covid overall. I can't slam 12% stouts all day every day

    i like white claws

  11. I like flavors from truly and flavors from white claw. I actually really like the pineapple truly. White claw has a better lime.

Have tried White Claws and Fick’s Hard Seltzer and enjoyed both, but I’m now very curious to try those Untitled Art ones.

Unrelated, but I made a run down to Santa Cruz last week to pick up some bottles at Sante Adairius, but of course yesterday they put a new saison with nectarines and raspberries up for sale at the to-go window. Trying to figure out how to justify another trip down there soon, because I don’t think this one will last long.

I've had/tried.... White Claw, Truly, Bud Light Seltzer, Kona Seltzer, O&A Colorado Craft, Bon & Viv, and probably a few others. For me it's pretty obvious that most of the mass produced (Claw, Truly, Bud, etc) all essentially taste the same and have that slight tin taste to them. The craft seltzers, which usually aren't mass produced, are almost all much better.

But most importantly, I have found that using real fruit juice vs flavoring REALLY is the indicator of what kicks the whole thing up a notch

  19. Fonta Flora, which is in my town, has been making craft seltzer with real fruit since last year. I haven't been a fan of any of theirs unfortunately.

However, they recently started making slushys in their taproom using a 15% ABV version of the seltzer plus additional real fruit blended in and woooow those are good

Flying monkey has some crazy looking art. Sometimes it works sometimes it just looks super busy. One of the first crazy flavored stouts I ever had was their triple chocolate stout that tasted like fudge. The issue being even I, lover of all high ABV and fudgy stouts dumped out half the bottle because a 750 ml is too much

also got to sample all the current beers from the restaurant I just got hired at!! extremely good selection but currently you can only get them in growlers at the restaurants themselves (they have two locations across the river in IL and one in Clayton, MO which is where I’m working). apparently they’re gonna start canning and distributing in the near future though. Peel Brewing co. be on the lookout I’ll let y’all know when they start getting them out there. Absolutely loved the coffee porter and tangerine kolsch but everything i sampled was good to great

I know these things always sound pretentious and we discussed it earlier on this thread prior to you starting to post so just bringing you up to speed but you should be concerned about the cleanliness of your glasses for taste and presentation.
