Sounds interesting, I'm also in the boat of strongly disliking her and thinking she's super problematic, but this sounds interesting!

I know ppl have conflicting thoughts on El Diablo in suicide squad being a stereotype and stuff but it really was awesome to see that representation. I can never describe the feeling. Like a mixture of pride and happiness and hope? Idk let me get in my corny feelings for a sec

I honestly have no idea. I'm not a superhero/comic person haha but it's all too rare either way!

    Would Zorro count ?

And I think Honey Lemon from Big Hero 6 is Latina, at least the actress voicing her is

  9. Vibe from The Flash? (is that a spoiler?)

Agents of SHIELD had a couple recurring Inhuman characters last season who were Hispanic, and the modern, Latino Ghost Rider will be in this upcoming season.

The show gets crap, and understandably so, but at its best, it has the diverse Marvel that I wish the films had. Daisy Johnson and Agent May need to appear in a film someday, even if the show needs to end first. Daisy in an Avengers film would be so cool.

HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

  13. Definitely interested in this. I like the director, but would prefer a POC.

This kind of reminds me of Django Unchained. I remember when that movie came out and women were complaining about Hildi being a damsel in distress... white women. Like, that's part of their privilege, being able to complain about tropes like the damsel in distress trope because it's happened so much to them. To them, that trope means they need to be saved. But there are black women who have told me that since they rarely if ever see someone who looks like them in that role, that trope means they deserve to be saved. It's a different perspective.

What I'm saying is, there's no shame in feeling the way you do about it. Stereotype or not, make snow angels in those corny feelings.

  16. Didn't Ellen Page say that since she's come out she hasn't been offered as many straight roles?

That was always the one part of the movie that I wasn't a fan of, but only because the character didn't get to be developed as much as Tarantino originally intended. If I recall correctly, the script was getting too long and that's what he chose to cut, sadly. Still a great film and something that doesn't happen nearly enough (Western starring a person of color). I find this argument about the differing perspective on the "Damsel In Distress" trope really fascinating, as well.

On a related note, that remake of The Magnificent Seven is looking pretty solid. I really hope it turns out well.
