Shiny Swablu :) First shiny of the festival

 

Still no shinies. Fuck this game

Just got shiny Durant. Hopefully this is a turn around from yesterday.

No shinies yet today. Not even really seeing many spawns

 

Where’s all the rockets? Haven’t been seeing any balloons

 

The happiest moments of a pretty disappointing event overall for me were Shiny Chansey yesterday and this lil dude today

 

My only shiny was Carvanha. Fuck Niantic.

 

They owe the entire community a make up day for the friendship rare candies we all missed on day one, and the egregious lack of Shiny spawns.

 

It’s insane. I played almost 10 full hours the past two days. I have better shiny luck just playing normal.

 

I ended up with 15 shinies over the 2 days, playing damn near all 20 hours. I got a few of my main targets (Heatmor, Unown, Gible, Qwilfish) and finally got a Dratini after missing its com day. I actually enjoyed the Go Rocket battles this morning and was glad it was done quickly so I could shiny hunt the rest of the day. I was relieved that it was not the sole event of day 2.

Did it have its shitty moments? Absolutely. The friend list not working, remote raids being glitchy, too many garbage spawns on incense, etc. That said, Niantic gave you all the resources needed to play this weekend; plenty of balls, revives/potions, and incense. There should have been a greater gameplay difference between ticketed and free; there was only a slight difference in spawns on day 1 (day 2 was significantly different though).

While far from a perfect event, I am glad I spent the $30 so my kid and I could play together this weekend. Knowing some of that money is going to good causes helps to lessen the impact of the negatives in my opinion.

Edit: To add to this, I never left the house all weekend. lol

 

Only got 3 shinies today (Meditite, Squirtle and Qwilfish), but I also barely played today. 21 shinies total for the weekend. My one disappointment was not getting shiny Durant.

 

Zero today. Didn't get to play a whole lot though.

 

I did quite like finally finishing out the team rocket research and getting a good chunk of raids done.

 

I think the issue with this event is not that it was bad as an event, but there is a fatal flaw that makes it bad
overall.

The event certainly CAN be played from home, but if you want to really reap the benefits, going out gives you an exponentially better event.

And during a pandemic, it's not great to have an event where going outside makes it better... I think that is the flaw in the event.

 

That being said, I safely went outside a LOT. Biked for at least 4 hours each day paired with a few drives and then resting at home.

ended the weekend with THIRTY new shinies.

Overall I enjoyed the weekend. I play two accounts and got a total of 48 shinies between both accounts and both days. It is definitely the most I've played in a long time, especially since covid hit. I know I randomly sent some raid invites to some of you here, so if you accepted, thanks for raiding!
