I've had to drop Sleeping With Sirens, WSTR, ADTR, Emarosa, SWMRS and now I The Mighty in the past month, I'm gonna fucking cry, I do not feel like this scene is the safe space I always thought it was anymore.

 

Man that post was hard to read. She’s really honest, and detailed. Also uses a lot pictures/texts. I reached out to extend my support. I want survivors/victims to be heard.

I haven't listened to them since high school and am quite out of the loop - what happened with ADTR?

 

There’s been allegations against Josh Woodard for years, more coming to light.

Holy shit that’s awesome. Blake is a beast on the kit too. Any band would be happy to have him

 

I mean, this entire scene was completely toxic and encouraged and glorified this kind of predatory behavior to their young fans. There are likely thousands more stories that won't be told. Its not just a few bands with a few bad actors, its a cultural mindset that overwhelms every aspect of that music scene.

 

Has anyone kept track of every artist from this scene that we should avoid now? It's hard to remember all of them - and a lot of these incidents aren't well known since it's a niche scene with much less media coverage than the high profile cases

When the founder of the biggest festival in the scene a lot of these bands are coming out of says "sexual harassment is part of the culture", it's no wonder so many of these men are being outed as shitty people/abusers/rapists. If you enable that kind of culture, then obviously men are going to take advantage of it.

I'm not placing all the blame on Kevin Lyman, because obviously thes emen need to be held accountable on their own and should know better, but Lyman really did play a big part in making this "culture" acceptable/normalized...
