I'm expecting to not like the lead single for the next three months until album release.

Wait I thought 1989 was her pivot away from country? This is basically the same as the albums to come except its guitars, and drums. Has way more in common with pop rock than country.

I think the best 12 or so songs from Lover might be my favorite collection of songs from her. But the 4-5 filler tracks sap a little momentum as a whole. But overall it’s still magnificent and was a great return to form.

dropped as we were vacationing in St. Augustine last summer so it will always be tied to that city for me.

***i saw Taylor Swift on her self titled tour, for context. Only record of hers I don’t LOVE is reputation, and the best stuff on that one is still excellent. Red is still her best overall.

Been a fan since Tim McGraw and still think reputation is her best overall album. It was a clear vision and audacious for her. Some of her best vocals as well

I feel like I'll never be able to separate reputation from the fact that the tour was the first time I saw her so I listened to that album a lot and have so many memories with it.

  10. First time I saw her was on the Red tour, and that was obviously amazing.

Yes. Was making a joke since I personally haven't been a fan of a lead single since Fearless.

not really an accurate comparison considering 1989 wasn’t on spotify for the entirety of its release

i don’t even think lover is bad. it’s just so wildly not on red or 1989 level

I just think she’s only gotten popular and broadened her fan base since. I’d be shocked to find out that wasn’t true. 1989 started the conversation for sure and it’s a fantastic album.

I really don’t mess around with anything before 1989 EXCEPT the couple of bangers that are out of place on Red.

i mean, it’s sold 3x the amount as lover haha. there are reasons for that from the industry just like there are reasons some lover songs might stream more. but do i think the singles on lover are as much a part of general public awareness as blank space or style? hell no, man

he did an entire Lana Del Rey album, I don't think it'll be too hard for him to mesh with a National/Bon Iver sound
