Having a lime/coconut sour from Smuttynose, pretty solid on a disgustingly hot day

Just found out I can’t drink on this medication I’m starting Monday and have to take for life. Going to splurge a bit this weekend for one last time. Fuck high cholesterol.

That majorly sucks. I take antidepressants and luckily my doctor says it’s okay to drink in moderation on them, but if I try out on a new med, that could change.

Yeah I asked the pharmacist if a beer every now and then would be ok because the warnings say to avoid alcohol. She said I can ask my doctor but that she would recommend not drinking at all. Waiting on a response from my doctor but figure it’ll be the same. I was thinking maybe the medication just wouldn’t be as effective with alcohol but one of the potential long term side effects of this medication is liver damage so it makes sense abstaining from alcohol.

Are you taking a statin? I take one for genetically high cholesterol and they said it’s fair game to drink.

Yeah I’m taking Crestor for hereditary cholesterol. I’m hoping the doctor might just want to monitor how it affects my liver first which is totally fair.

back in st louis so time to try all the st louis breweries. sucks cuz i was just getting super familiar and comfortable with all the philly options but exploring new stuff is always fun. anyway this is great (its 4 hands super flare IPA), brewed with mango, guava, and lime zest. about what you would expect, which is exactly what i wanted.

i'll check em out, im really only familiar with schlafly and urban chestnut and even then its been years since ive really had either since ive been in philly for almost 4 years and they dont get hardly anything from the midwest out there.

If someone explained the peanutbutter stuff I probably wouldn't be interested...but it's the perfect fall beer. I'll take sweet baby jesus over pumpking, or any other pumpkin beer for that matter, any day.

most pumpkin beers ive had barely even taste like pumpkin. out in philly the evil genius purple monkey dishwasher chocolate peanut butter porter was like....THE beer that got me into craft beers. so good.

Sweet Baby Jesus brings me back to college. The big dance bar always had it on tap, I think I’ve only ever had it when hammered haha

Ahh yea evil genius is good...honestly, most pumpkin beers taste like potpourri to me. Way too much spice. The only one that really compares is Southern Tier's Pumpking. I know that's pretty mainstream, but nothing else has been enjoyable to me.

trying to remember which pumpkin beer we had on tap for our seasonal last fall at my old job....think it was dogfish head punkin. zero pumpkin taste at all.

Yup..dogfish, like many others, was my introduction to craft beer. I still enjoy a 60, 90, 120 minute ipa, but not their seasonal stuff. It's garbage to me.

i enjoy a seaquench if i need something super crushable and i REALLY enjoyed the american beauty hazy ripple IPA but yeah, they're pretty hit or miss like most big craft places like that. appreciate them for being a good introductory brewery though for sure

Did you get a chance to grab anything from Imprint when you were in Philly? They're located in Hatfield. Phenomenal stuff.
