Is Apple doing repairs right now? I just realized my series 3 had that crack form around the edge that they cover with the replacement program.

Yeah, those are both really fair points... definitely take away the Apple-ness of the Apple Tv. I'm just hoping the next model comes with a remote with a mute button. I don't mind the remote itself at all except for that omission.

 

Planning on upgrading to the next Apple TV model, whenever that may come, and I really hope the remote gets a major overhaul. Don’t care much for the touchpad as is.

 

Plus, remotes break and $80 for a replacement is stupid.

 

Mine works half the time but yeah, definitely not going to spend that much on a new one.

the touchpad is a great idea in theory but its held back by ... for some reason severe input lag.

 

Suuuuper laggy. And YouTube TV seems to just lose it sometimes so i have to restart the whole system.

I've noticed it on WWE Network... makes me think my battery is dead but nope...

 

how often do you folks charge your remote?

 

Once a month or so?

 

Probably 1 every 3 months... my kids are always playing XBOX so I rarely get to sit and watch anything.

 

I've had my Apple TV for two and a half years, use it nearly every day, and I think I've charged the remote once. Maybe twice.

 

Does anyone here use the Apple TV remote in control center on the iPhone? I don’t have an Apple TV so I have no idea if that might solve some of the input lag problems.

 

every three months at most for sure; i also have zero lag issues and use two of them literally every day

 

I use two Apple TVs everyday with two remotes. I use the phone app a lot so i don't really charge much but the living room one has a bit of a lag and the YouTube TV issue.

 

I also don’t use YouTube tv tho. YouTube every once in a while.
