The commie professor thing is funny because I can't imagine how a prof's political views would even come up in a class on business, math, science, etc. So these conservatives who love making fun of liberal arts degrees are ostensibly telling on themselves by implying they took such classes as well

Obviously following science is a must but if only somewhere along the line this country would’ve adopted the precautionary principle in its law and policy. Climate change will be the ultimate example but we’re seeing it with covid. It’s a new disease and very little is known but instead of that triggering precautions the playbook is well prove to me scientifically that it’s dangerous in every scenario. It really is a classic playbook in this country. Most recently we’re seeing it with fracking which was assured to be harmless just based on theory of everything going right and it’s still taking time to prove the real consequences because the science is created by the industry and no small town farmer can afford to pay for a scientific study that would allow them to get it in court. So instead their water catches on fire and their whole family gets sick and time and time again companies get away with “well prove scientifically that it was us”. Getting a little off track here but that is the culture of our policy and it really in hindsight shouldn’t be surprising that it’s been very difficult to get a uniform response to a new virus. We still aren’t responding to pfas, lead in water, plastics in all our blood, radioactive waste from gas development, and of course climate change, and it’s largely because relying on scientific proof is such a long and complicated process. If only we required these things to be proven safe in the first place imagine where we’d be.

I just saw a lifted truck while driving and it was waving a Q flag..... so annoyed today

 

I don’t know how Q is still a thing when it’s constantly been proven wrong or nothing Q promises actually happens.

Anyone else notice the Karen thing has been coopted? I got called a Karen for pointing out people not wearing masks when it’s mandatory in my county to do so. I was seeing people defending nascar for the confederate flag ban get called Karens by a bunch of rednecks. I think the Karen thing is starting to backfire.
