Which cut did you watch?

 

It was whatever is on HBO MAX. Looked like 4k. The movie looked gorgeous, especially for how old it is. I liked the movie thematically and thought the special effects were really well done. I think I'm just numb to horror at this point.

It was funny getting 2/3 through the movie when my girlfriend asked about the stairwell scene. I just said, "babe, I don't think it's in the movie." She was so taken out of it at that point lol

 

That’s fair, I can totally see how the horror doesn’t hold much nowadays.

Sex Machine. Fucking legend. Everyone I show that movie to is like “how does this exist with this cast?” Haha.

 

Watched The Ruins last night. It felt like there were a lot of elements of the story that were changed in production. A lot of the movie felt off and there weren't really payoffs for a lot of what happened. It was kinda weird how pretty some of the cinematography was given the setting and plot.

 

Saw that movie in theaters and enjoyed it for what it was. Haven’t felt the urge to rewatch it though.

 

I saw Savini's name mentioned earlier....goddamn legend. I highly recommend watching the documentary on him.

 

Heard he’s a real butthole in person

I've actually heard all positive things about him, but everything always comes secondhand, so who knows...

 

Yeah I didn’t want to say anything but now that it’s come up, I met him years ago and he was super standoffish and negative. One of the few celebrity encounters I’ve had that put me off of the person in general. And I do try to cut people slack of course when they might be tired or stressed or sick or something, but his vibe was off enough that it stuck with me.

 

what was the situation you saw him in? Was it in a public area where he was minding his business? I figured if he was a guest at a horror con, he’d be more welcoming since he knows he’d be encountering and talking with fans

 

Uhhhhhh, it was specifically at a convention, lol.

 

Maybe it was someone in very well done Savini cosplay.
