This rules, going to listen to the whole album tomorrow

 

i listed to 13 yesterday and it is better than any oasis album i've ever heard

The self titled album would like to have a word with you about that...

 

the self-titled blur album? also amazing. the scale of 13 just always impresses me. the little instrumental fragments that come out of nowhere (cf. outro of "coffee & tv"), plus from "battle" to "no distance left to run" it's just this incredible sequence of melodies and grooves all stretching out into outer space (especially "caramel" my god)

 

Yeah, the self titled Blur album is definitely my favourite. I was never really a fan until that came out. Really dug that how much they experimented. Listening back now, you can really hear the almost trip hop influences in some of the tracks.

13 is still good. But the ST edges it for me.

is Manic Street Preachers considered Britpop? If so then they're up there too

i was not being serious

 

pulp is closest to oasis for me. they probably have two of the best five britpop songs. they also have a bunch of (albeit early) unlistenable stuff. i love the last three or so albums though. i think of them as the kind of band that a lot of people seem to trick themselves into thinking blur is.

 

Phew! It is something I can see people on here saying truthfully, sorry for questioning haha

 

Radiohead were the best Britpop band for one album, The Bends, which is probably their best.

I could maybe get behind the first half, but not the second.

 

I don’t like much britpop, but Blur and Manic Street Preachers are definitely my favourites. I did have a Shine compilation on cassette, though. Loved that.

Supergrass had some great tracks too. Mansun had some great choons. And Space. Maybe I liked britpop more than I thought. Someone should start a thread because this discussion deserves to be somewhere other than here haha
