    Keep on the sunny side.

What an epic trailer, can't wait for December. The Jyn/tie fighter shot toward the end was incredible.

Really looking forward to this after the trailer. I'm excited that it'll still get the essence of Star Wars without being like The Force Awakens. Although, I did enjoy that, too.

Oddly more excited for this than I was for TFA.

  8. This trailer! It's so beautiful:verysad: So many great shots. I cannot wait.

I don't care if :vader: is barely in this. Just give me one scene of him in beast mode. I can see it now. Rebels are escaping somewhere, and Vader intercepts them. Erso & Crew are also escaping, but at a distance, looking in awe at what appears to be a literal dark force of nature.

Not gonna watch the trailer but I wonder if there will ever be diminishing returns with constant Star Wars feature films available. I mean, I have adored and loved the franchise since I can remember, and when I watch the original trilogy I still feel the same magic and pure joy of just watching something uniquely special, but that's just it, it was uniquely special. Now the series has more bad films than good ones and while I like Gareth Edwards and am interested in what this film will be like, and I hold Phil Lord and Chris Miller in the highest esteem and will see anything they do, I can't help but feel an underlying kind of numbness to the prospect of neverending Star Wars feature films. I already feel like I've had enough, and while I recognize I'm in a minority there, I really can't adequately state how much Star Wars has meant to me and it kind of bums me out that something so special is starting to mirror the superhero mold. Are people really excited for endless Star Wars films? I don't think there's any film property I'd be excited to see run forever, it feels just... cheap. Disney knows what they have and are taking advantage of it for profit (and yeah, it's not like Star Wars hasn't been absolutely insanely marketed before this, just with every year feature films it takes on a new angle of cynical to me).

I know I'm a downer on that, and I'm not telling anyone to not enjoy anything. This whole landscape of Star Wars and comic book movies scheduled into 2038 or whatever before scripts are even written... I can't help but feel it's not a good thing overall. But whatever. Again I like Gareth Edwards, I'm still interested to see what a Star Wars film not tied to the POV of the generational saga at the core will look like.

I'm fine with endless Star Wars as long as they're telling good stories and making good movies. Episode VII is my favourite Star Wars film and the first trailer for this (not watching any more) has me super excited so I'm more than happy for now. If they end up dropping in quality at some point or getting boring I'll probably just stop watching.

To be fair I've never been as Star Wars crazy as most. V is close but VII just did more for me than any other Star Wars ever has.

While this film looks incredible and I'm completely sold, I still can't shake off the fact that we already know the outcome of the film. Will they somehow keep a somewhat happy/positive ending or keep things dark to compliment the theme of the way things look? I'm really curious about that, just another reason to be excited coming from a dedicated fan of film in general.

And I'm not event a big Star Wars fan to be completely honest. This just looks so damn good.

Pretty sure this is gonna be one of those "it's about the journey, not the destination" type things. It's gonna be awesome.

I think the misstep they took was having their first two movies out of the gate be tied so closely to the nostalgia of the originals. I love TFA, it's a totally enjoyable movie, though far from a masterpiece. Having said that, it relies to heavily on references and callbacks to the originals.

Rogue One is following a similar thread. obviously I haven't seen it, but the story ties with the originals. You see X-Wings, Star Destroyers, the Death Star, and Vader. All things we know and love.

The promise of the "movie a year" model was that it would be an opportunity for unique storytellers to play in the universe and present stories completely detached from the saga movies. It looks like we aren't really going to get there until after the new trilogy. As much as the Han Solo movie will probably be good it's not reall what I want. I would be far more interested in a drama about the black market Jedi blood trade (users get high off of the midichlorians) than I am a movie about fucking Boba Fett.

There has been zero word on the Fett movie since Trank was fired.

It seems like they are definitely interested in solo films with Boba Fett and Obi Wan. But you're right, I was speculating.

I mean we all knew Anakin becomes Vader and the Empire is created in the prequels before first watching them

Maybe a bad example because it's the prequels

There has been very little talk beyond the Solo movie. I think after the whole Trank incident they are holding back to see reaction to at least Rogue One. We are set til 2019 at the moment. The next solo film not confirmed will be 2020. They have time to gauge audience interest and reaction to the solo movies before beginning whatever is next.

I actually agree that I'm really not a big fan of the concept of all of these spinoffs. I'm always down for more Star Wars but I feel like it's not even gonna seem like a special series for me anymore. A new Star Wars movie should be an event imo, not an annual thing. Same thing happened with the Marvel movies.
