Was told the same by my friend that worked in a restaurant. He was surprised I didn't find a bunch of gay slurs and people showing their balls to each other uproarious. It also immediately made me think less of the "Freaks and Geeks" child.

The only people I ever heard say Waiting was accurate were people who actually worked in restaurants, so idk I think it’s just a hard YMMV situation

there were some aspects of Waiting that were realistic, rampant sexual harassment is definitely a huge part of the culture, though I’ve never seen it take the form of their ball showing game

 

There were a lot of nuggets of truth in it (rude customers, the customer that comes in 10 minutes before close, the kitchen hierarchy), but it was all done in such a 2000s, over-the-top way where everyone is mugging that it aged like milk in the sun. I feel like that goes for a lot of Reynolds comedies, like the fat shaming in "Just Friends" and just about everything in "Van Wilder."

 

If you ask me about the guy that got fired from my old Carrabba's who showed his balls, I'd ask you to be more specific.

 

It’s funny that Reynolds has like the most Reddit style of humor and you immediately jump to defending him in the most Reddit kind of way
