I feel so bad for Cliffy B, but then I saw a really bad tweet from him about the streamer who passed away last week.

 

Cliff left on his own terms though. Like yeah, I imagine it sucks watching something you helped build grow to greater heights after you left but that’s his cross to bear.

I say this as someone who has never played through a Half Life game, I just find Valve’s handwringing over being supposedly “unable” to make Half Life 3 to be annoying as shit and really wish people would stop giving them the platform to keep doing it. If you don't want to make the game, fine, just say so and then shut the hell up about it.

Nah, you should watch the documentary and look at how their internal development teams work. Their statement makes sense.

 

Valve has more money than god and devs would fall all over themselves for the chance to work on a new Half Life. If they wanted to make it they could make it. They don’t want to.

And that’s fine! They don’t have to! But they need to just shut the hell up about it. I’m sick of these stories about how Valve doesn’t think they can do it and doesn’t think they can live up to Half Life 2, or they can’t come up with a unique gameplay gimmick to hang it on, or whatever. Just stop whining and either make the game or don’t.

 

God forbid developers talk about their insight into their work.
