Hulu and Prime have the worst interface. We use Hulu a lot more though. I hardly ever browse through prime.

They have a surprisingly huge list of stuff, including tons of obscure shows or movies that I never see streaming anywhere else. And yeah, great for horror. Even without any add-on channels it would be pretty impressive. The problem is that it can be impossible to find those great options because of how terribly it’s put together.

One of the worst features is that if you have something in your list that leaves prime, if it ever comes back on the service again it will often create a new listing instead of just renewing the one you already added. I can’t even count how many times I’ll see something that I really wanted to watch on a recommended list, wonder why I didn’t see it available again, and then go look at my list and find that the old version is still there taking up space while being unavailable for free.

Yeah I like Prime's content but that UI gives me anxiety. Rarely even open it nowadays.

they don't even have an app for the two most widely used streaming devices in the US (roku/firestick), which affects the rating. the website is wonderful to use, haha.

    Hulu
    Netflix
    HBO Max
    Disney+
    Prime

Netflix has the best UI, but Hulu is a close second there and has more content in terms of cable TV that I watch, so I use it the most unless a new Netflix original drops that I'm interested in. HBO Max is next because they have great content, but their lack of device support is ridiculous. Then Disney because I think it has a good UI, just not much I'm interested in other than some Marvel movies. Amazon is last because I don't think they have the greatest selection of originals and they have the absolute worst UI out of all of them by far

I watch horror on Prime all the time it's just my prime also includes Shudder, Starz play etc so I don't know what's actually on standard Prime

Does it show that Prime ribbon in the corner when you’re watching something from Shudder or Starz?

Ahahahaha. That’s fair. I’ve trained my eyes to only look at the titles with that ribbon, everything else might as well be invisible to be. On my phone I can now toggle “free to me” which is great, but I don’t see that on the TV app yet.

Former Hulu contracted employee here: They don't care that you don't like the interface. They aim to be more of a TV replacement than a competitor to Netflix.

Just in terms of how much I use them and how much I like them overall

    Shudder
    Netflix
    Hulu
    HBO Now
    Criterion
    Hoopla
    Funimation
    ESPN+
    Disney+
    Starz
    PBS Passport

Then there's the free to watch stuff (Crackle, Tubi, Vudu, Pluto)

I've only used HBO Now once so far

Hulu the biggest problem I have is that if you ad something to your list and it gets taken off, it's still on your list

Prime has a nice selection but the interface sucks and I barely use it

Yeah, when I first interviewed I mentioned Netflix as a competitor and they QUICKLY shut that down and were like "No, no" and then it kinda clicked in my brain and I was like "Oh yeah now that you mention it"

that’s always been hulu’s brand but they also don’t do a good job of accomplishing that task lol. maybe they’ll do a better job now that youtube hiked its price so there’s less available better alternatives

Well they pivoted in 2017 to it being the full time focus, so I wouldn't say always but yeah. They have a better shot now.

I think I have a CBS All Access button on my Roku remote I've never used. Wish it was for Prime or YouTube

I didn't know either, I had called xfinity thinking I missed "X"ing a box to opt out of it but he was like "Nah it's free forever so I just gave it to you even though you didn't ask"
