I haven't really cared about music cred & have made fun of the term "guilty pleasure" for the most part in over a decade. Though, my tug of war between self awareness & sincerity sometimes produces similar results. Like, I had a tweet recently about liking Blackpink that I qualified by ackowledging that they're not the greatest or whatever, but then I deleted it 'cause, who gives a fuck? lol.

Anyways, outside of the online disease of irony, the only time I care about corniness, etc., is when it's at the expense of the dorks who care too much about their versions of "cool." Like, when all those Christian hipsters (a real "fun" demographic) were obsessed w/ Mumford back in the day, I'd call them "the Nickelback of folk." Which, that's when people still cared about the whole "Nickelback is the worst band of all time" thing, lol. And, I also like making fun of 21 Pilots to my one friend who loves 'em while hating stuff like Carly 'cause it's "little girl pop music" or whatever.

tl;dr: The corniest thing you can do is sincerely care about corniness.

 

Yeah it's taken me years but I've finally learned to just like what you like, regardless of what people think. Same with letting people like what they like haha

here's the oasis primer. had to go off memory since i couldn't just migrate it to my Spotify from my old apple music. i know @JRGComedy asked for one, but it also seems like more of you need one than you'd care to admit lol. just a handful of songs from each album, listen chronologically probably for best results, but it should work for shuffle too

I really don't care that you don't like Keane. I fully recognize that their brand of music scans as bland to many. I just think "this is music moms like" is a wildly stupid criticism.

 

I respectfully disagree. Dunno if it's different over in the states, but in the UK, they're definitely music mums like.

Haven't once said they're bad. I've called them bland and inoffensive, but never said they're bad. They're just not for me.

 

I mean they’re absolutely inoffensive but that’s not inherently bad. My mom loves Keane and so do I!!!

 

Songs About Jane is legit a fantastic album but unfortunately Maroon 5 has never come close to topping it. They have some other good songs throughout their career I enjoy, but nothing as good as their first album.
