You didn’t “side-eye” him you called him “alt-right adjacent” or whatever lol. And yes, thinking that following someone on Twitter is indicative of anything is dumb!

I try to pay attention to artists like Childish Gambino, but that's about it. I've never really been into rap or hip hop, but I picked up Dirty Computer by Janelle Monae and DAMN by Kendrick Lamar a while back and enjoy those albums. I'm usually likely to find a song or two by an artist and go from there because a lot of hip hop and rap is still a little hard for me to get into.

I went to make/eat dinner and missed a lot in here, but I'm ok with it

Honestly, I hate all bands that aren't the ones I listen to on my iPod.

Lol I guess I genuinely don't see much redeeming about them outside of the hip hop contributions to their music. Maybe I'm finding out I just don't like them and like their guests spots.

Idk what to tell you, lol. That, coupled with the allegations that came out about the Silicon Valley set, makes me not put much faith into him. Could've leaned harder into it, if I wanted to

Just popping in to say that Square One by Coldplay is one of my all time favorite songs. Their first 4 albums have a lot of really fantastic material

Some real great stuff by Gorillaz honestly and their live performances are incredible.

Albarn took like 7 years off in between “actual” Gorillaz albums so it makes sense that a lot of people who listened to them during the 00s have forgotten about them. But also the last two Gorillaz albums peaked at #2 and #4 here. I get that that’s much different than having a hit song but they’re still obviously very successful and get a lot of coverage from the big music sites and such, so it is strange to see anyone act as if they’re basically totally irrelevant

Idk anything about the set thing you’re referring to. I just think it’s very funny to accuse the King of the Hill guy of being a literal nazi lol

Silicon Valley Actress Says HBO, Cast Enabled “Petulant Brat” T.J. Miller

Not calling him a nazi. I'm saying that he follows a lot of alt-right figureheads on Twitter and, coupled with the comments above and other comments about the set of Silicon Valley, doesn't seem like the type of guy I feel like dying on a ....hill for.

I'm sorry, I'm entering into this thread with absolutely no context. I really just wanted to express appreciation for this dad joke because it's the first thing I saw. Carry on.

You know what the alt-right is, yes? That someone who is alt-right *is* a literal nazi? Not just any various right wing/conservative idiot on the internet? I don’t view it as defending Judge to simply say that...that’s not what he is lol. He probably does suck. But imo it’s like saying the South Park guys are nazis - just entirely off base

Maybe the coolest Gorillaz song is Sweepstakes. Mos Def rapping the same verse multiple times in different time signatures, but it all flows so naturally

I mean, as you say, even that - South Park doing “both sides” stuff - is categorically *not* them trying to appeal to right wingers or whatever. It’s moronic, but it’s just them doing the same kind of social libertarian shit they’ve been doing forever. Team America was partially about how the smug liberal Hollywood elite are just as much of a problem as the literal military industrial complex lol. The last time I bothered following South Park at all was them doing that PC Principal thing, but even then it’s like yeah the right wing loves complaining about PC, but it’s not like that’s a particularly niche conservative issue? Plenty of dumb, otherwise apolitical or “centrist” people agree with PC being a problem. Them saying some shit that proud boys/alt right/etc may ostensibly agree with (when in reality they’re obviously massive hypocrites about it) is a whole different world away from being chill with their actually intolerable views. If that’s the metric then you could make the argument that, like, Jon Stewart fits it as well. Conflating that kind of combination of sincerity+naivety and a desire for “reasonableness” or whatever, with “passive endorsement of nazis” just seems like overkill to me lol

To get back to music, as a teen I used to think the 90s alt rock was generally my favorite “era” of music but now it may be one of my least favorites. There’s something about the production of a lot of the more popular music of that time that just doesn’t vibe with me at all

I also used to think the same thing about 80s music but now I live for that shit lol

The whole point of the song is to mimic the hypnotizing/lulling effects of rip-off carnival games, so thank you for proving it correct
