Yeeeeeppppp. There are certainly some people I try not to engage with at all and others that I’m just careful with. Luckily I avoid a lot of the worst fights at this point and miss a ton of what’s going on that might end up weighing on me.

It’s also always funny to me when someone that I’ve clashed with a ton posts something that entirely goes against how I think about a subject and I’m just like, “Oh. Well of course we’ve fought. That sums it up perfectly.” And then I wonder why I let myself get bothered by them in the first place.

PLL was like a case study in loving things that are problematic and holding them accountable but still allowing yourself to love them because you’ve been emotionally manipulated into being a Stockholm syndrome hostage of the show

Every time I see him I think he looks like William Beckett but now when I think about William Beckett I get sad and angry so I wish I didn’t have that association anymore.

Yeah, it was discussed here a long time ago but the main thing was that he had manipulated a fan and cheated on his wife with her (I think possibly pretending that he was separated? Not sure) along with some other toxic things in his relationship that I don’t remember the details of. I also vaguely feel like other people said they had similar experiences or uncomfortable dealings with him, but then I don’t think anything much came if it and most people seem to have forgotten.

 

I was partially being facetious. Like while I didn’t know any specific allegations towards him I have already taken the assumptive stance that everyone in a band is a predator lol

but yeah I don’t remember that

It is! And I do. Sadly I’ve had to take a similar stance. Maybe not quite that I truly believe every single one has, but certainly internalizing the idea that many have and at any time I could find out someone I follow is and need to drop them. No more being surprised and no more of the, “Oh but at least so and so is still perfect,” idea that I unfortunately was guilty of at some points.
