as someone who is relatively new to the band, i definitely knew who gerard was and had never heard of anyone else in the band. i’d imagine a lot of people into the graphic novels/UA feel similarly.

 

My parents could tell you who Gerard Way is and would have no clue as to who the other members are

Interesting, looks like this may be an original instead of a cover? The lyrics in that 5 second clip don't bring up any relevant Google results for me

 

Kinda expected something like this since there were plans for Gerard to do music for season 2 of TUA, so excited to find out what it actually is and why MCR is tagged in the IG post

 

Holy shit if this ends up being the first new MCR song released since the reunion...

I'm kinda doubting it, but that's be sweet haha

 

General consensus is they're tagged for promo reasons but my hunch is Ray or Mikey will be on the song with Gerard. If this was actually new MCR....lmaooo lemme not get my hopes up

 

It would certainly be one weird-ass way to introduce the first song you've done together in years lmao but during pandemic times, nothing surprises me anymore

 

well you gotta think of non-pandemic stuff here. If nothing happened, the band already would be on tour, maybe with a new single or two out, and then when the season came out with a new song, it wouldn't be "the first new one."

it's entirely possible since everything got pushed except the show, this may be a new MCR song

 

I would be very surprised if their first song back was for Umbrella Academy tbh

 

I mean everyone knows MCR’s reunion was just promo for Umbrella Academy S2.

 

Really solid song! I'm not sure if it's just my speaker but Gerard's vocals sound a little quieter than I'd like and doesn't have a lot of bass (which is definitely just a matter of preference, and I'm assuming it was intentional to give a 60s/70s feel)

 

I love this. It reminds me of how criminally underrated Hesitant Alien is.

 

I can't get into Hesitant Alien at all and just kind of like 1 or 2 songs. Dasher and this song are great though

 

Definitely liked Dasher and Haunted House more but this is cool and I'm so so curious to find out how the collab with Judith Hill came about. Would've loved to hear more than sentence from him about the song at all, really. I don't remember him (and the band as a whole ig) being this unwilling to engage with press and social media ever before
