Helpless/Satisfied was really good. If I recall, I think there was another song after it that had a few call backs to those as well. Enjoyed that.

I definitely thought Dear Evan Hansen was a teen melodrama movie based on a YA novel about someone dying

Well, I mean. You’re wrong on the format but not entirely on the subject/theme. Lol.

all musicals are melodrama, kinda the point. that in mind, i personally found Dear Evan Hansen pretty nuanced

Are you able to download for offline viewing with HBO Max?

I still can’t believe how badly they’ve dropped the ball with that service so far.

is it bad? I'm going to a cabin with no internet next week and was going to subscribe and download some stuff to watch when I'm there

I think HBO Max's biggest problem is not supporting Roku and Amazon Fire despite taking up ~70% of the streaming market. Other than that, just weird, unclear marketing decisions leading up to the launch that confused customers, and doing weird things like cycling out DC movies despite being owned by the same parent company

If you have a supported device, then I think it's a great service (haven't tried offline mode though)

  10. It's a bit of a nuisance that I have to switch from Netflix to HBO Max for Batwoman/Hour Two, but at least I have both services...

The service itself has a lot of great content, but the launch has been a complete mess. I subscribe via Fios and stream using my Roku TV, so I am in a terrible position for trying to use it now despite having an account. At the moment I can’t get the Max app at all on my TV, and on July 31 they’re getting rid of HBO Go entirely so I will lose my main option for streaming regular HBO content as well. I’m really crossing my fingers that they work out a deal before that date and just get it all consolidated correctly.

Saw Wall-E tonight, my favorite Pixar film. Was my second time but wow holy shit it hits just as hard. Beautiful.

Pretty easily their best movie. Sucks that the quality dips in the second half though.

Up, Coco, and Finding Nemo are almost just as good IMO, and I disagree about the second half. Everything with Jeff Garlin’s character and Eve falling for Wall-E is so heartwarming.

Everything involving only robots is perfect but everything involving humans was typical animation movie bland humor, imo

Oof. I have such deep love for that movie and it fills me with joy so I can’t really say anything besides I’m sorry you feel that way. I personally think the social commentary is excellently done while still being fun.

aaaaand “typical animation movie bland humor” not sure what that means, are you criticizing ...all animated movies?

For the most part, I find animated movies generally have such a low bar to be passable that ones that are at least not bad are overly praised. Like, half of Pixar movies I’ve seen aren’t anything special, imo
