  1. Finished season two of schitts Creek and it's starting to give off the feel good vibes I get from parks and rec. The season two finale was exceptional.

Stephen Chbosky being set to direct has me super excited. I wonder how long it will be before that exists though.

for me with Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen it's always hard seeing something with that much hype, I think the criticism of how Hamilton skirts around slavery and valid and was one of my main takeaways seeing it, saying the music is bad less so

Yeah I know we’ve talked about that a lot with Dear Evan Hansen too. The music is great and I loved the spectacle of it a lot, but it’s not one I can recommend without some qualifiers and discussion of how messy it can be.

Dear Evan Hansen is better than Hamilton. So is Waitress, probably. Tbf I did see Waitress with Jessie Mueller

I did do a few Ham4Hams when they were still in person, so I guess that’s the closest I’ve come to seeing the show.

The Burr in the touring Co wasn’t very good, but everyone else was. Everyone in this recorded version is absolutely incredible, obviously haha. I’ve really zoned out in Act 2

I haaaaaaaate when there’s a cast recording and a bunch of people were out sick or otherwise unable to be there on the day so the songs never sound right. My personal favorite historical musical is 1776 and that album is brutal.

Oh nooooo. I saw Taylor Trensch when I went and that was ideal for me since I had seen him in Spring Awakening almost a decade before.

Idk who the understudy was, but I still really enjoyed it. We did see Platt in Book of Mormon back when I only knew him as Pitch Perfect guy

when I saw Book Of Mormon both Gad and Rannells were understudies but I got to see Rannells as King George at least

also got understudies for Jessie Mueller in Carousel and Laura Benanti in My Fair Lady

Ben platt’s voice is a godsend. I actually didnt catch Dear Evan Hansen with him in it so im super jealous of anyone who did but it was still unbelievably great.

  18. I watched the first hour of Infinite Earths without catching up on three of the five shows and

    "I didn't know you had a daughter"
    "I get that a lot"

Hahaha it's like they anticipated people who weren't caught up would tune in

  19. Okay but I'm just thinking about the conversation about family trees in Dark and OUAT, literally the last Arrow episode I watched was "oh by the way, the new Green Arrow is your sister you didn't know you had"

It makes me wonder, it seems like a lot of sci-fi/fantasy/superhero shows have villains whose pasts are somehow connected to those of the main characters'; idk if it's inherently more interesting if the villain had no previous connection to the main characters though.

Like, how often do we see "I don't have any sort of personal grudge, I'm just here to wreck shit"

my friend told me he watched half of Hamilton wondering when they would stop singing and I was like buddy it’s a musical

so he told me he watched the rest and was like ohhh it be better with some normal acting also and I went huh

I don't disagree, but after seeing the touring version last year and listening to the soundtrack a ton, there are definitely since parts that I feel like he over does some things. I really really enjoy his voice though and would love to be able to see it again with him as Evan Hansen.

What's the "Let It Go" of Hamilton? While a lot of them were good, I don't feel the need to go back and listen to any one particular song.

Probably My Shot or Helpless but imo while the music is consistently good throughout there isn't really a big standout.

Just put on My Shot, and yeah, I can say while I appreciate the musical and the joy it brings to so so many people, this particular one isn't for me. LMM sounds so whiney. The females, Leslie, and the guy that played two roles definitely stole the show.

I think it’d be Wait For It. I also listen to Helpless a lot and from a musical storytelling perspective, Satisfied is probably strongest
